Review 3834: Palazzo Olivia, Berta

Review by GailS from MA who is a SlowTrav Contributor

apartments in the historic center, Rome

September 2008, 5 ngiths

The Palazzo Oliva is two blocks from Piazza Navona, right off Piazza Pasquino. It is an ideal central location for Rome.

Nearby Amenities

There are many excellent restaurants in the area. The nearest grocery store was a block and a half away.

The House/Apartment

There are several apartments in the Palazzo Olivia, all recently renovated. The Berta (1bed/1bath) was very quiet. We've also stayed in the Rosina (see previous review apartment here which was also quiet.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Everything was in good shape. The apartment itself is the smallest in the Palazzo Olivia. The bathroom and kitchen were very small but the bedroom and living room were adequately sized.

The bed was comfortable and there were extra pillows. The bathroom was the only drawback for us as it was extremely tight. The shelf over the sink was a bit too big and made it difficult to wash your face.

The kitchen was tiny. We didn't cook at all and I can't imagine trying to cook very much in it.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

This was our second stay at the Palazzo Olivia. Carla who runs it speaks fluent English and was very nice. The web site accurately describes the apartment.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We much preferred the Rosina apartment in the Palazzo Olivia, which we stayed in the previous year, primarily because of the size of the bathroom in the Berta. If the Berta was the only apartment available we would stay again as the location and condition of the apartment was excellent.

Things to do in this area

The Cul de Sac wine bar is just around the corner. Excellent selection of wine and good food.
