1bed/1bath apartment near Campo dei Fiori, Rome

When

Sept. 29 - Oct. 20, 2008, Three weeks

Location

The apartment is in a wonderful location. We never needed to use a taxi or public transportation during our three week stay, and we covered Rome thoroughly. It is in the historic heart of Rome, our favorite place to stay in the city.

Nearby Amenities

We used the market in Campo dei Fiori for our fruit and vegetable shopping. There is a very nice butcher shop in Piazza Biscione, and the employees are very nice to those of us who are challenged by Italian. There is a grocery store just a block away from the apartment, and many more scattered nearby. The area is full of bars and restaurants.

The House/Apartment

The apartment is in an historical building, with a number of other residences. The building is well maintained, and has an elevator. The apartment itself has a large and comfortable living/dining area, and a great kitchen (four burner cook top, microwave, full size refrigerator/freezer and a washing machine/dryer). Since it is in the heart of the city, you will hear motorbikes and voices if the windows are open. It is great to hear the life of the city.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was very nice, and comfortable. There is a pull-out couch in the living room, as well as two other chairs. The dining room table has four chairs, and the bedroom has a desk and two chairs. The apartment was very clean and comfortable.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The bedroom is very large with more than enough closet space. The bed is so comfortable, and the room so cozy and dark, it was difficult to leave some mornings. The bathroom is a good size, and there was enough space for our "stuff." The shower was decent sized, and had wonderful hot water, and good water pressure.

Kitchen

We certainly used the kitchen! There is a coffee maker, as well as stove top espresso makers for morning coffee. The pots and pans were sufficient for making full meals, and I enjoyed working in the kitchen, particularly as there was enough counter space to make cooking enjoyable and not a balancing act. The full size refrigerator with a freezer was a real treat.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We rented through the owners, Massimo and Biancamaria. The rental process was not difficult and we enjoyed our email correspondence with them. They are usually available to meet renters and show them the apartment, but they were out of Rome at the time of our stay. We were in frequent contact via email and phone while we were in Rome, so we just have to plan another trip back to finally meet them.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would stay here again in a heartbeat, and strongly recommend it. We want to stay here again, and just hope it will be available for our next trip!

Things to do in this area

There is so much to do in the area. Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon are minutes away, as is the Ghetto and Trastevere. There are museums to visits, churches to see, and shopping galore. And there are so many restaurants in the area - you could eat out for weeks!
