1bed/1bath apartment in Cannaregio, Venice WhenOctober 6 - October 13, 2008, 7 nights LocationThe apartment was located in Canneregio very near the Campo S. Maria Nova and the Church of Santa Maria Dei Miracoli. It was 12 steps up in an old, historical building and was on a side canal. Nearby AmenitiesStores were just a few steps away from the apartment. There was both a panificio and an alimentari within minutes and the supermercato Billa on the Strata Nova was within 15 minutes walking time. There were several outstanding restaurants also within minutes, our two favorites being Boccadoro and Osteria da Alberto. The House/ApartmentThe building is an historic site. The apartment is in very good shape with a full kitchen, bath, and bedroom besides the living and dining space. There are at least two other apartments in the building but noise from them was never very loud. There is plenty of closet space and a washing machine with a clothes line over the canal. You can view the property directly: Ca' Miracoli. GardenThere was no outside living space. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good shape and comfortable. There was plenty of room for the two of us. The place was extremely clean when we got there. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was very comfortable and the canal was not at all noisy. The bathroom was fine with a shower, not a tub. KitchenThe kitchen was fully equipped and very adequate for all our needs. There were plenty of dishes, pots, coffee pot, etc. We did not cook a full meal in it but could have done so with no trouble. Problems or BonusesThe surprise was how very comfortable we felt in both the apartment and in the neighborhood. We were really able to get away from all the tourist spots and relax and enjoy Venice. Agency and Representatives (and price)Maria and Leo, the owners of the apartment, were outstanding. Correspondence was always answered and they met us, oriented us to the neighborhood, and made sure we were settled into the apartment before they took their leave. Maria speaks excellent English. We paid approximately €670 for the week, all inclusive. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We would stay at this apartment any time we are in Venice. We would also recommend it to any and everyone. We really enjoyed the whole apartment-neighborhood experience. Things to do in this areaEverything in Venice is within easy walking distance. The Ca d'Oro and Fondamente Nove vaporetto stops are very close. The area restaurants are some of the best we experienced. The two we liked the best, as mentioned before, were Boccadoro (Campo Widman) and da Alberto (Calle Giacinto Gallina-near the Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo).
