1bed/1bath apartment near the river, Rome WhenNovemebr 2008, 10 nights LocationThe apartment was in Rome and a very nice location. It is on a short street that crosses with Vi Giulia. It is near the end of Via Giulia near the Piazza Dell Oro and the Fiorentini Church. The area is very nice and quiet and safe. Nearby AmenitiesWe walked to Cafe Peru just around the corner from the apartment. There was a grocery store on the Corso about two blocks away. There were restaurants along via Giulia and the Campo dei Fiori and nearby Navona area. The House/ApartmentThe building is in excellent shape and is old. The apartment was heavenly quiet and peaceful. The apartment is on the first floor (second US). There are are eight apartments in the building with some being rentals and others permanent residents. The entry door opens into a hallway. To the left is the large bedroom and bathroom. Directly ahead is the living room and on the left of the hallway is the kitchen. GardenThere is no outside sitting area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture is in excellent shape. It is mostly IKEA furniture. The sofa bed is very comfy and the two chairs also comfy. The dining room table was large with drop leafs and four chairs. There is also a dining chair padded. There is enough seating for 10 comfortably. The apartment was immaculate. The apartment also had a pleasant fragrance. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe large bed in the bedroom is comfortable. It has a mattress pad. The bedroom has a large floor to ceiling wardrobe and built in dresser. Plenty of hangars and space for suitcases and clothes. There are extra blankets and pillows and the cleaning lady comes once a week to change all linens and clean the apartment. The bathroom is large and has a large tub and a shower with VERY hot water and good water pressure. It has a bidet and toilet of course and two cabinets, wall mounted and some towel racks. The towels were big and soft and three sizes. The sink is up high which is nice. It has a mirror and also four nobs on the back of the door to hang things. The bathroom has a window that opens onto the street below. The glass is frosted. KitchenThe kitchen is a separate room and small but very adequate. We prepared complete meals. It is equipped with lots of pots and pans and utensils and condiments. The stove has two burners and the fridge is below the stove. It has a microwave and a washing machine. Problems or BonusesThe one big surprise is how quiet the apartment is. It is bright and sunny and very comfortable to spend time in and eat and relax. Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner is very nice and answers any and all questions honestly and quickly. The cleaning lady is easy to contact and pleasant. We paid €800 for 10 nights. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We have stayed in this apartment two times now and would stay again and have recommended it to others. The apartment is large and very clean and quiet and close to transportation. It is off of via Giulia which is a lovely pleasant street especially at night with the lamps lit and antique shops open. Things to do in this areaWe walked to St. Peter's, Trastevere, Navona, Campo dei Fiori. We took the buses several times. The bus stop is located one block away. We would take a bus to Largo Argentina and then a tram to Trastevere or continue to termini and take a metro somewhere. My favorite coffee shop is just around the corner from the apartment, maybe a 20 second walk, Cafe Peru on Via Giulia. Many antique shops along via Giulia and a bakery one block away as well as a grocery store. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
