apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenNovember, 2008, one week LocationLe Manzinaie is located about 1.5 km from the small village of Montepulciano Stazione. It is far enough from town to feel like its in the country, yet five minutes by car to a bank, grocery store, restaurant, etc. Le Manzinaie is in a great location. A great home base to visit great hill towns. Nearby AmenitiesToo far to walk, in my opinion. Only five minutes by car to nearest village. The House/ApartmentLe Manzinaie is a renovated 1700s farmhouse. The owners live upstairs and turned the complete downstairs into four independent apartments. There are also two separate villas on the grounds. Our apartment "Rose" was in excellent condition, very clean. Very quiet. There was a great room where the kitchen/dining/living room was located, a good sized bedroom, and very large bathroom. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bathtub, separate shower, sink area with large cabinet, toilet and bidet. GardenSince it was November and cold, we didn't spend any time outside. However, there was a shared sitting area with table and chairs. There was a very nice pool, which was closed in off-season. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasOur apartment was very well cared for, excellent shape. All of the seating was very comfortable, couch and bed. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was very comfortable. We slept great. We had a very large bathroom with jacuzzi bathtub. KitchenThe kitchen was exactly what we needed. Gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot. Stocked with plenty of cookware and dishes. The only thing lacking in the kitchen was no oven, which was no problem. Problems or BonusesThe best surprise were the owners. We felt as though we knew them at our first meeting. Alice, the daughter, was excellent in correspondence. She speaks English very well and was our primary contact through the reservation process. She worked with us anyway we asked, even changing our dates and arriving on a weekday. Alice was always helpful to our every need, maps, directions, recommendations, etc. Marzia and Fiore, owners, have done an excellent job renovating their farmhouse. Marzia offers a cooking class and taught me how to make homemade pasta and a dessert from the area. We had a home-cooked meal with the family which was absolutely the best meal of our entire trip! We greatly enjoyed our conversation with this wonderful family. We laughed and talked the entire meal, feeling very welcome and comfortable in their home. They are a wonderful family and great hosts!! Agency and Representatives (and price)Alice is the main contact person. She replies very quickly to all emails. Alice speaks excellent English, French and Italian. Our apartment looked exactly like the photos on their website. No surprises at all. We paid €563 per week as listed on the website for off season. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would recommend to anyone to stay at Le Manzinaie. We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to the area. The location is great with all the top hill towns just a short drive away. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
