5bed/2bath apartment in Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenNovember 22-29, 1 week LocationThis apartment was in the walled part of Montepulciano on the second floor (third floor American). There is no elevator so be prepared to climb steps. The apartment has great views of the farm land surrounding the town. We were able to park in the street below the apartment. Nearby AmenitiesThere are many restaurants, stores, cantinas, and a small grocery within walking distance. The bigger grocery Coop is a short drive. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was in an old building and was filled with homey furnishings. It was in a quiet part of the town. There were two other apartments in the same building. There are two apartments in the unit which can be either rented together or separately. The larger apartment is on two levels: the first level has one bedroom with a king bed (actually two twins pushed together), a narrow galley style kitchen, and dining room. The second level has two bedrooms - one with two twins beds and the second with a double bed - a full bath, and a small outside terrace. The smaller apartment has a kitchen/dining/sitting room, bathroom, one bedroom with a king bed (two twins), and another bedroom with bunk beds. All the lower level bedrooms have views. GardenThere was a garden area that was shared with the other occupants of the building - we were there in cold weather so never went outside. There is an upper terrace with the larger apartment for about six people. No pool. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good condition and the apartment was clean. It was very cozy. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds in the king rooms were a little worn down but adequate. The bunk beds and the twins in the loft were very comfortable. Furnishings in the bedrooms were very nice. Bathrooms were fine - shower in the larger apartment leaked. KitchenThe galley kitchen was very narrow so we used the larger kitchen in the small apartment. There were enough pots and pans for what we needed. We prepared breakfasts and cooked a light evening meal, and ate heartier meals in the restaurants. There were plenty of dishes and silverware. Agency and Representatives (and price)We dealt with the owner, Maurizio, directly. He speaks English very well, and is a very nice man. He lives in Florence, but is available by phone if needed. We paid €640 for both apartments for a week in late November. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely we would stay here again. The apartment was a very good value and very comfortable. Things to do in this areaMontepulciano has many opportunities for shopping, sightseeing, and relaxing. There were many restaurants, wine shops (cantinas), bars, shops within easy walking distance. The town is very hilly, so be prepared to climb. We took day trips to Florence via train in Chiusi and drove to Pienza, Montalcino, and Abbazzia Monte Olivieto near Buonconvento.
