3bed/3.5bath house in Montone, Umbria WhenApril/May 2008, 12 Days LocationThe home is in a small village in Umbria with an excellent location for getting a real feel for life in Italy. It is an old village so the buildings are close but NOT intrusive feeling. The area is something I would recommend to anyone. Nearby AmenitiesWalking within the village was a must! The butcher, (a three minute walk) had some of the best quality meats I had ever seen. He also carried all staples needed to cook in the villa. The clerk in the store was helpful with wine selections. The House/ApartmentThis building is owned by someone who knows what people want and expect. The villa is very historical and the owner had an extensive renovation done to update. The bedrooms are all great with differing configurations of bedding (queens and twins), bathrooms were great as well (one bedroom w private bath). GardenSmall front sitting area but the view is from other areas in the house and around the village. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe house was furnished with appropriate couches, chairs, and tables. The common areas are great for socializing with people in the kitchen. The cleanliness was excellent. There was enough of everything in this villa. Bedrooms/BathroomsBeds and baths were nice as well. As above, one master bath with the large bedroom with a lot of character and authentic paintings on the walls. Other bedrooms appointed with nice sheets and down comforters. We were a party of five and had more bathrooms than we could use! KitchenTake it from a group of cooks, this kitchen rocks! Efficient five burner gas stove, with anything in the way of pots and pans we needed. Plenty of appropriate wine glasses and vessels for storing wine. Easy to move around the kitchen and interact with people as you cook. Problems or BonusesAfter renting MANY villas in Italy this one far exceeded my expectations! Agency and Representatives (and price)The owner is a wonderful woman full of life experiences and it is obvious by the house she has renovated. The on site contact was helpful, accessible and spoke impeccable English. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? If our economy was not in the tank I'd take my family back now! I would also be willing to talk with anyone who wanted more information but this is a great place to stay for an authentic feel.
