1bed/1bath apartment in Trastevere, Rome

Bologna Terrace, photo by

When

September 2008, 1 week

Location

My sister-in-law and I stayed in this lovely apartment for seven nights in early September. It is in a great location, within easy walking distance to all the major tourist sights.

Nearby Amenities

Great restaurants just a few minutes away. A good supermarket and alimentari nearby. The Campo dei Fiore is also within walking distance and we shopped here for great fruit and vegetables.

The House/Apartment

The apartment is just as depicted in the website. Right in the heart of Trastevere with every amenity close at hand. Our apartment was at the very top of an old building and had no lift. There are approximately 53 stairs up a very narrow and twisting staircase but this presented no problem for us. There are other apartments in the building but we experienced no noise and felt very secure.

You can view the property directly: Trastevere Bologna.

Garden

No garden but a wonderful private terrace which we used every day. It is very quite and not overlooked. We had breakfast here every morning and a few evening meals when we catered for ourselves. There are garden pots with shrubs and also a washing machine and facilities to hang up washing. All in all a wonderful spot to relax in the evenings.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Very clean and comfortable.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

There is one bedroom, with air conditioning, right under the eaves, the other sleeping area, also under the eaves, takes up the landing space. This second sleeping area did feel a bit cramped but was not really too much of a problem. There was no air conditioning in this part but there is a very efficient portable fan which we used. The bathroom, which is off the landing was clean and efficient. The photos on the website give a very accurate picture of the internal layout. There is a small flight of winding stairs which lead down to the living area and kitchen. The living room is quite dark as there is only one window which does not look out onto daylight, but we did not really spend much time there and we had the luxury of a beautiful terrace.

Kitchen

The kitchen is clean and was well stocked with all the equipment we needed. There is a window in the kitchen which looks out onto other buildings so this area has plenty of light.

Problems or Bonuses

No real problems. There were plenty of maps, guides, restaurant recommendations.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency provided an excellent service. Tim, the representative answered all our initial queries very quickly and efficiently. He gave us honest advice and was a real gem. He met us at the apartment on our arrival and very kindly carried up both our suitcases. He didn't even stop halfway! He also came back that night and slipped some information on shops, buses etc under our door. We also hired Marco, from the agency to meet us at the airport and take us back for the return journey. He was English speaking, the car was immaculate and he was very polite, friendly and on time.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Definitely! The agency was great to deal with and the terrace really does make this apartment a real gem.

Things to do in this area

A never ending choice of things to do and visit with everything within easy walking distance.
