2bed/2bath apartment near Colosseum, Rome WhenSeptember 2008, 18 days ReviewMy brother Pat and I stayed at this apartment for 18 days. We enjoyed a comfortable, quiet, home away from home - shopping in the neighborhood and cooking our meals. We attended language school to study Italian, so Internet connection was useful. Natalia and Walter gave us warm hospitality, always just a phone call away when we needed help. We enjoyed walking to the sights in the heart of ancient Rome and the nearby Metro station. One special day with Natalia, we drove to the ancient olive oil site in Sabina where they still use the millstones of two thousand years ago to make the famous Sabina olive oil. We visited the ancient abbey of FarFa, rich in history and historical mementos, with a jewel of a library and a charming adjacent village. Then there was a small evocative medieval church. This was the half-day trip. Next time we'd like to take the whole day. Rome just gets better with every visit. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
