2bed/2bath apartment in Dorsoduro, Venice
Whenend of May 2008, 4 days LocationThis charming little apartment is located in the Accademia section of Venice, very convenient to the Accademia bridge and to walking to the rest of Venice. Although there were no views of canals and no balconies or terraces, I loved looking out the windows at the people walking by, and I loved being close enough to the important parts of Venice that we were able to come back and rest or eat at home during the day before heading out again for more sightseeing. Nearby AmenitiesRestaurants were very close by. The nearest grocery store was a bit farther, but still quite walkable. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was on the first floor (second floor by US standards). There was another apartment above, and I believe the apartment on the ground floor was being renovated. The apartment itself was in excellent condition, and there was a beautiful Murano glass chandelier in every room. The apartment was quite quiet, at least by city/town standards. You enter the apartment into the living room/sitting area. Off to the right is the kitchen, dining room, and one bathroom. Off to the left are the two bedrooms and another bathroom. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good shape and quite comfortable. Everything was very clean. There were enough dining chairs for all of us, but the sitting room had just the sofa and a pretty but uncomfortable antique chair, so it was difficult for all four of us to sit in the living room at the same time. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedrooms were nice and the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean and in good condition, if rather small. The twin bedroom was also quite small, but that is the nature of many Italian apartments and old houses. KitchenThe kitchen was quite usable. There was also a table in the kitchen, so we could have breakfast in there if we didn't want to set up the dining room. The pots and pans were adequate for cooking meals. Agency and Representatives (and price)The agency was good to work with, and they spoke English. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We hope to stay here again the next time we visit Venice. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
