apartments on an estate near Montespertoli, Tuscany Chianti When04/19/2009 - 04/22/2009, 4 days LocationThe "le Torri" villa was located outside of Montespertoli in the Chianti area of Tuscany on top of a hill with beautiful views of vineyards across the street. It was a private walled villa with a beautiful garden and pool. The building was a large stone structure in immaculate condition with a beautiful and well groomed lawn and gardens. We loved the area as it was very centrally located to all of the places that we wanted to visit. Nearby AmenitiesThe villa was situated very close to a small village where there was a small grocery store, an ATM and a very nice restaurant. You could walk to all of these but they are not right around the corner. It would require a walk of 15 - 20 minutes so a car is recommended. To get around the area a car is absolutely essential. The House/ApartmentThe Le Torri Villa is definitely an old building. I do not know the history of it but it was very beautiful. There were several other apartments in the building - one and two bedrooms and the building was a private "villa". GardenThe outside lawn and gardens was large and very beautiful. It was completely walled with a swimming pool and several private sitting areas. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe apartment was beautifully decorated with nice furnishings appropriate to the style of the villa. It was very comfortable and immaculately clean. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedrooms were well furnished and large and the beds were very comfortable. The bath rooms were large, clean and well equipped. KitchenThe kitchen area was well equipped and easy to work in. Problems or BonusesThe surprise was a very positive one as the actual apartment was just as beautiful as described on the web site. Agency and Representatives (and price)We did not use the services of an agency but called the day before we arrived and were very lucky to find an apartment available. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay at Le Torri Villa next time that I visit Tuscany! The villa is owned and operated by Gabriele, Paolo and Maria and Gabriele was very helpful, especially with regards to driving directions etc. We were not able to enjoy it but his mother Maria puts on a wonderful Italian meal for all of the guests on Thursday evening. Things to do in this areaWe visited Florence, Siena, Pisa, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, and Rome after leaving Tuscany. The two restaurants that we enjoyed were both near by and Gabriele gave us directions. Both were very good. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
