2bed/1bath house near Montepulciano, Tuscany South

When

November 2007, Six nights

Location

This rental is located just outside of Montepulciano next to the owner's home. I would say it is in the country tho not far in the country. The area is very beautiful and nicely tended. I would love to return year after year. There is a nice gravel area for parking the car.

Nearby Amenities

You definitely need a car to get around as it is some distance to town and to a grocery store and restaurants. There are many fine restaurants and enotecas in Montepulciano.

The House/Apartment

The building is fairly new and was in exceptional shape. I was amazed at how nicely appointed the rental was. Just outstanding! The thought and care that went into this rental was impressive to me as I have stayed in many fairly low cost rentals but this was by far the nicest. It was the only rental on the property.

You can view the property directly: La Casetta.

Garden

There is a wonderful sitting area outside on the patio with nice outside furniture - not plastic chairs! The owners have a number of fruit trees on the property. The area overlooks a beautiful valley. It is a wonderful place to sit and drink a glass of wine and eat one of the delicious treats that the landlady brought us.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furnishings were immaculate and very comfortable. And there was plenty of seats for the two of us and I am sure we could have accommodated a few more without any problems.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

The beds were very comfortable. There was a large one in the big bedroom and a twin in the smaller bedroom. The bedrooms were also well turned out like the rest of the house. The bathroom was spotless and quite nice. There is just a shower stall, which suits me fine. I loved the beautiful blue tile in the shower.

Kitchen

The kitchen was small but adequate. It even had a dishwasher. We ate a number of suppers there.

Problems or Bonuses

No bad surprises that is for sure. The absolute bonus is the landlady, Pena. She doesn't speak any English but she is just delightful and insisted on tidying up the rental every morning. And she often brought us homemade treats. She also shared some homemade wine with us. Her son does speak English and is also very delightful.

Pena invited my friend and I over to learn to make pasta and to enjoy Sunday dinner with her and her family! That was such an unforgettable treat. Pena also took us into town to her neighbor's gallery and to view the Etruscan ruins in the building where the gallery is. Very wonderful experience.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We dealt directly with the owners and everything was just perfect. I can't remember what we paid but it was in the off season.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would most definitely stay here again and again. And I have recommended it to a number of people. I can't wait to take my husband there. It is a romantic rental of outstanding quality.

Things to do in this area

There is so much to do in this area especially if you enjoy wine. The restaurants in town were outstanding but I can't remember the names of the ones we ate at. The town is so beautiful and fun to explore tho it does attract tourists. There is an outlet mall in the area where I bought my husband a beautiful tie.
