Review 4148: Le Torri, Apartment

Review by Janet I from TX

apartments on an estate near Montespertoli, Tuscany Chianti

May 23, 2009 to May 30, 2009, 7 nights

Villa Le Torri was situated near Montespertoli and the small village of San Quirico. It is gated and had places for the cars. Was very quiet and peaceful but close to the village to walk and about 30 miles outside of Florence.

Nearby Amenities

You can walk to the small town to get coffee, grocery shopping and a very nice restaurant. The villa apartment has a kitchen and you can choose what you want from the store and they will buy the groceries and have them there for you when you arrive. You will pay for the groceries at end of stay in cash. The first night they prepare a light dinner (lots of food) with wine outside, which is included in the price of the week's stay.

The House/Apartment

The building is a very old restored farm house. Gabriele, his mother and father operate the Villa and are very charming and mama is an excellent cook. There are nine apartments five two bedroom apartments and four one bedroom apartments. All of the two bedrooms are on the second floor with great views with most one bedrooms on the ground floor.

The outside garden was lovely with roses, many flowers, olive and cherry trees. The garden has places to BBQ and tables to eat on under the trees. The pool is big with tables and chairs and umbrellas. Outside is shared by the visitors of the week.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartments were very clean and very well kept. Washer and dryer were available to wash clothes or towels. Two sets of towel to use for the week.

Beds were extremely comfortable with double in one bedroom and twins in the other. Each with their own bathroom, which was very nice to have ones own bathroom. No tub but nice shower.

Kitchen was completely stocked with dishes and pots and pans. Oven and refrigerator where really nice sized. Nice table and chairs to sit around and play cards or eat.

Problems or Bonuses

No surprises although there is no A/C but fans in all the rooms. We kept the windows open day and night and no critters came in at all.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We booked with the owners online. Gabriele runs the booking and he speaks English although his parents only speak a little. He will help you with directions, tours, getting a taxi, wine tastings etc. It is like going to your best friends house and staying a week and wanting to stay longer.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

This is my second time at Villa Le Torri the last being in 2007 with my entire family. It was wonderful then and even better now. Everything fresh from the garden and the Wednesday night meal for 30 is a feast of many courses. Wine, limoncello and all the food cooked by mama and Gabriele made the dessert.

This is La Dolce Vita!

Things to do in this area

Went to wine festival in Montespertoli, went on wine tasting tour, La Gramola Cooking School outstanding, Siena, San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Monteriggioni (really enjoyed), Florence. You can bike ride, take a hot air balloon ride, horseback riding etc. but you will be too busy seeing the beautiful countryside of Tuscany.
