Review 4160: Italy Perfect, Veneto
1bed/1bath near Borghese Gardens, Rome
June 2009, 1 week
The apartment is near Via Veneto and the Borghese Gardens. We liked the location since we spent a day sightseeing at the two museums in the Borghese Gardens, and loved the Villa Borghese which has incredible sculptures. The last time we had been in Rome Villa Borghese was closed for renovation, so we were delighted to be so close. It was worth the wait. The agency website was useful since it includes a Google map showing the apartment location and proximity to the sites, so we knew what to expect.
There was a coffee bar across the street and a grocery store about two blocks away. It was very convenient. The confirmation materials explained where to find these places so that made it easy to get settled in.
The apartment was very quiet and comfortable. The extensive photos on the Italy Perfect website depict the apartment accurately. The building is probably six stories high (can't remember for sure) and the apartment is on the fourth floor. There were two other apartments on the same floor.
No outdoor sitting area.
We like the apartment a lot, it met our needs perfectly and we looked forward to coming back to it at the end of each day of sightseeing. It was clean and well maintained. Comfortable sofa, nice floor lamps on either side of the sofa. It got quite hot for a couple of the days we were there so we ran the air conditioning and appreciated the Italian's use of window shutters to block the light, which also helped to keep the apartment cool. There are no views to speak of since the windows face out towards the back of another building across the way but we chose the apartment for this feature since our previous stay in Rome some years back had been in an apartment that faced a busy street and we wanted to avoid traffic noise.
The bedroom was nice, good quality mattress and plenty of storage space in the closet. The bathroom isn't that big but it was just fine and clean. We made use of the washer and dryer since we stayed for a week. The washer and dryer are located in the bathroom. From our search for an apartment we were delighted to have a good clothes dryer since none of the other Rome rentals we considered had one. The owner had left a hairdryer for us as well which was appreciated.
Kitchen was good, we had breakfast and a light dinner at the apartment. It had all the utensils, pots, pans we needed.
Problems or Bonuses
We were pleased with how quickly we figured out how to get around Rome on the bus system and the subway. The nearest subway stop is only two blocks away. But most of the time we just walked everywhere which was fun as we would wander and find new and interesting sights to see along the way.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The greeter spoke perfect English and was very helpful. The agency, Italy Perfect, was the excellent to work with. They provided us with many useful written materials before our trip about Rome and what to expect. The website information about the apartment was thorough and accurate, the many photos that they have on the website of the apartment were helpful so that there were no unpleasant surprises. We were very pleased with all aspects of our stay and would stay at this apartment again and definitely rent from Italy Perfect in the future.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
Absolutely, we liked the location, quiet, internet, comfortable bed and helpful agency and greeter.
Things to do in this area
Spend time wandering the Borghese Gardens if you can. Villa Giulia museum was interesting. Didn't do any shopping but found several good restaurants in the neighborhood. The confirmation materials included the names of several neighborhood restaurants too.
