Review 4185: Doorways, Villa Grazia/Girasoli

Review by Lynn B from PA

2bed/1bath apartment near Cortona, Tuscany East

May 23 - 29, 2009, 1 week

We rented this property for one week of our honeymoon and it was perfect! The house is situated on an immense vineyard/olive farm and is secluded from the other two dwellings on the property. It is very tastefully decorated inside and has a porch and a very private patio. My husband and I spent hours talking on the patio each night. You can actually see Cortona through the trees while on the patio.

The entire property is well maintained and professionally landscaped. We had fresh lemons each day from the lemon trees is our quiet front yard. The rose garden is especially nice, located outside the beautiful farmhouse on the property. We also enjoyed the superb swimming pool during the unseasonably hot days.

Maria and Massimo (the owners) are great. They were very friendly and helpful. They made a real effort to inform us about the best hill towns to visit. They were also very helpful with day to day things like where to shop for groceries and where to park the car, etc. They are very charismatic and speak English well. We both enjoyed their company and brief visits with us.

We were nestled away in the quiet, picturesque Tuscan landscape but still convenient to most things. Cortona is only a mile or two away and it is one of the most outstanding hill towns in Tuscany. We were also minutes away from a huge lake (Lago Trasimeno) in Umbria and a ferry that visits the islands in the lake. The train to Florence is only a few miles in one direction and the Coop (grocery store) is a short distance in the other direction.
