3bed/2bath apartment in Castello, Venice WhenJuly 2005 and July 2007, 5 nights each time LocationIt is in a great location across the way from the Sant Antonin Church. Nearby were many shops and a small supermarket. The Arsenale stop on the Vaporetto was a short walk away. It was very private and quiet overlooking a wooded garden courtyard on one side on the other side a terrace overlooking a small canal and the Church. Nearby AmenitiesThe location was perfect, especially for us as we come to Venice for the Biennale which we could walk to. There was a supermarket within a few minutes walk other restaurants, bakeries, cafes all nearby. The House/ApartmentThe building is old but very nicely maintained. The apartment is on the third floor but there is an elevator. The apartment is large and filled with light. There are many other apartments in the building. GardenThere is a private terrace off of the kitchen. We enjoyed sitting there in the evening. There is a table and chairs on the terrace. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThere is a mix of old and newer furniture, some antiques. Nice enough but not so special. Bedrooms/BathroomsTwo very nice bathrooms, one with tub the other a large shower. KitchenThe kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need for any type of meal. We usually only prepared breakfast at home. Problems or BonusesThe first year we stayed, there was no AC. The second time new AC units were installed. AC is important in Venice because of the heat and the mosquitoes. I loved this apartment for its size; it is very spacious. It feels so nice to have all that space after coming to Venice so many times and staying in boxlike hotel accommodations. Agency and Representatives (and price)The people at Venice Apartments Italy are very nice. Both rental experiences went smoothly. Everything can be charged to your credit card. This is not the case with all of the agencies, some allow a deposit w/credit card but request the balance in cash. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would highly recommend the Sant Antonin and Venice Apartments Italy. Their prices are fair and their apartments will live up to your expectations. Things to do in this areaI have been to Venice seven or eight times and will go again and again because the city is magnificent. It is especially nice at night when the throngs have thinned out. You can find decent food in Venice but you need to get recommendations first, there are many not so great restaurants in the town. Nothing really comes to mind, if you want great Italian food, try the Tuscany. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
