Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 4207: Barclay International Group, Residenza Giubbonari
apartments near Campo dei Fiori, Rome
02 July - 10 July, 9 days
Everything you need is nearby. Best are two bakeries-Forno and Il Fornacia. Campo dei Fiori farm market every morning. Punto supermercado around the corner for everything else you need. Best restaurant in Piazza Farnese: Camponeschi. Others around good but not great but all tasty. Taxis and buses around the corner on Largo Argentina. Wear sturdy shoes for the cobblestones and enjoy being in the old town.
On balance, I would recommend the apartment to others because it was in a fabulous location and had most of what anyone would need to be comfortable. The bedrooms are very quiet and great for sleeping. The rest of the apartment was a bit shabby but not dirty if you know what I mean. The location was fabulous and Christina, the owner of the apartment, was very kind and pleasant. The apartment was basic and fine.
The bathroom and kitchen were very clean and usable. Everything was in working order but as far as cooking facilities, very basic. The best was that the dishwasher worked very well and quietly. We used the iron and hairdryer, but not together because it would blow the fuse. Same as most old apartment buildings. The washer and dryer worked but because of the time and energy to dry stuff, we used the hanging dryer in the apartment, which was very helpful to have. Also the air-conditioning worked very well, a big plus in central Rome in the summer!!
The beds were quite comfortable and the linens and towels were quite acceptable. The pillows were foam, which we asked for.
Too many pots and pans for the two hob stove top. Didn't cook much but not necessary with so many eating places. Fine for breakfast.
Problems or Bonuses
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.
The phone never worked but the owner was most apologetic and she tried to get it fixed while we were there, but couldn't.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
Barclay's International as booking agent and on site owner all fine.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We'd recommend this apartment and only would hope that in the near future the furnishings are refreshed.
Things to do in this area
Would need to rewrite a guide book to say all that there is to do around this area. Walk and enjoy and leave something for another trip. Don't cram since part of being in this area is living rather than sightseeing.
