Review 4217: Politian Apartments, Apartment #1

Review by Susanne B from Denmark

apartments in Montepulciano, Tuscany South

9 - 26 June, 12 days

For the third time, my husband and I stayed in Montepulciano, Tuscany. And for the third time, we stayed in Politian Apartment. The best apartment in town. It is a very nice and very beautiful apartment, close to "storico centro", with an astonished view, you will never get tired to look out. The house is old, and very "Italian", in a little street with houses build together. We think it is the best place and house to stay in, when you are in Montepulciano. No doubt, and we will come back again and again and ...

Nearby Amenities

Montepulciano is a "little" town with a population of roughly 14,000. The town is placed a the top of a hill. It is a fantastic medieval and Renaissance hill town. From the apartment You can walked to "storico centro" in about 5-10 minutes. There is a big and very good supermarket down the hill, it takes 20 minutes to walk, but there are buses driving round the town all the time, so it is easy to jump on a bus, out and home again. But there are many shops close to the apartment, not as big, but with all you need. With very friendly staff, and with good Italian cheese, vegetables, ham, coffee, bread.

The House/Apartment

The house is a historical building. Both house and apartment (2bed/1bath) are so beautiful. The apartment is very quiet, with beautiful furniture, a fireplace, many art books, a computer, with wireless access, a CD player, and a lot of CDs, classical, jazz, Italian pop etc. It is wonderful to sit by the open door, looking out on the hills, listening to good music. And it is typical for that apartment. The owner, Giacomo, does everything so good for his guests.

There is a wonderful little garden. Beautiful, with a lot of flowers and nice furniture. There a two apartments to rent, and the garden is normally for the apartment number 2. We always have apartment number 1, but it is not a problem to share the garden.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

We do love the furniture. Old, classical, good style. Pictures on the walls, some with local motifs, some with flowers. Two nice two-seat sofa, and a eating table.

When you stay for several weeks, there is a cleaning lady. This is so nice, but always when you arrive, the apartment is very clean, with beautiful linen on the bed etc.

If you need a driver, Giacomo knows one, the station is not close to the town, but there are bus from the station to Montepulciano. We always have a driver, it is easy.

The bedroom is very romantic. I love the room. The bed is good, and there is a net, you can put on the bed, if there are insects. The bathroom is brand new, with a washing machine, which is so nice to have, when You are on a vacation. The bathroom, is beautiful too.

There is a table in the kitchen too, so you ca eat there if you want. The kitchen is good, with a little dishwasher, and of course, everything you need, to cook a good Italian meal.

Problems or Bonuses

I have absolutely nothing sad to say about Politian Apartments. Only good things. My husband and I love to stay there. We love the town, its people, the beautiful houses, we love the apartment, and we could stay there for months.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owner, Giacomo, is a very nice person. He speaks English very well, and he knows a lot of the town, and the area. He is always on his mobile (aka cell phone), so it is so easy to contact him, if you have any questions. Friendly, calm and always doing his best for you and your stay.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes, we will come back, as often we can. And we will recommend it to our best friends. Friends we want the best for, and the best is "Politian Apartments."

Things to do in this area

The town is wonderful, there are a lot of shops, with beaytiful things, there are a lot of wine-shops, while some of the best Italian wines are produced around Montepulciano. Vino Nobile is the name and it taste so good. The town has very good restaurants, we love the beautiful café Politian, the really good restaurant "A quattro venti" and in the night there is a little bar "The Sax bar" very close to the apartment. There you can sit outside, in the warm summer night aire and have a good glass of wine. Wonderful. Also we love to sit on the town square, in front of the Duomo. There is a little café, but the food for lunch is good. In the evening, it is so romantic to be at "E Lucevan le Stelle" The sunset in Montepulciano is so fantastic, and the best place to eat and drink during sunset is there.

We walked to a little town nearby, Montefollonico, the landscape is marvelous, and even in that little town, there are good restaurants.
