Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 4240: Politian Apartments, Apartment
apartments in Montepulciano, Tuscany South
April 2009, 10 days
Location was FANTASTIC as it was on the edge of town, easy free parking outside and with the most wonderful views across the Tuscan countryside from the living room and bedroom windows. Unforgettable. We were also able to walk into town easily, though the uphill walk back took a bit longer to do! It was easily doable. Very quiet and private though we were there a little out of season( April) so that needs to be taken into account. I don't think this is a noisy place though, and SO beautiful.
The big supermarket was a short drive away. You could walk but if you were buying heavy items the walk back would be difficult. Other smaller shops were easily walkable. Restaurants and bars close by. We walked everywhere.
The building had been cared for as a family home and recently refurbished into apartments. On first floor(1bed/1bath). Still retained old family furnishings. Very comfortable and elegant.
Peaceful and quiet. Totally private. A family was in the apartment next door when we arrived but they left the next day and no one else was around during our stay. Another couple of apartments I think rented by locals but we didn't see or hear them at all. The building was large, quite a few stairs though and no lift so bags had to be carried up and down. Not a problem for us but could be an issue for some.
The two bed apartment next door had access to a garden which looked very pretty, full of flowers and with table and chairs. Our apartment had no garden but great views from the window across the countryside. No pool. Not that sort of apartment.
Really comfortable furnishings. Spotlessly clean. No TV. (if that matters to you) but a music system and access to the owner's CDs if you ask.
Comfortable double bed. Very romantic looking (check out the picture on the website). Wardrobe and drawers fine for clothes. Bathroom new. Lovely shower box and vanity. No bath. Good heating and lighting.
Usable. Gas hob. Some cooking utensils in cupboard. Coffee pots. Table and chairs in kitchen. Modern dishwasher. Microwave. Didn't cook much but it was enough for our needs.
Problems or Bonuses
We loved the outlook. It was the loveliest place I have stayed in Italy, all in all and we have made a few trips now. It felt very homely and comfortable. A good size for two people.
We were unfortunately sick during our stay :-( and found the owner Giacomo, really kind and helpful. We stayed longer than our planned week because of this, which was fine with the owner. Thanks again Giacomo!
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We booked direct with the owner Giacomo having found the site on the Internet. Giacomo's English is very good. We found his description and the online pictures matched perfectly with the reality. It was wonderful.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
We would stay here again anytime. It was great. We would recommend it to anyone at all who enjoys the things we do ... privacy, peace and quiet, comfort, beauty and tranquility of the countryside, fabulous Italian hospitality, traditions and local wine and food. We loved it here.
Things to do in this area
We liked everything, and we can be quite discerning. Giacomo is a great guide too and will point you in the right direction. His restaurant recommendation took us to our best meal ever in Italy, so our advice would be ... listen to him.
