Review 4245: Florence Apartments Central, San Lorenzo Apartments (Dante)
1bed/1bath apartment near San Lorenzo, Florence
We paid €120/night for this apartment, the Dante Apartment; we were able to walk from the train station, but still have the apartment be in a safe location.
As a family, it was very convenient to have the extra room; there was a loft and two two twin beds for the children. There was air conditioning and a sink; WiFi was included; check-in was extremely helpful.
The one con, and I had read this before, was it can be noisy. I didn't really understand this, but now I do! The street sellers push their metal carts down the street that the Dante apartment is on, and then push it into a kind of parking garage in the the late evening; this is reversed in the early morning. Turn the air conditioner on, and we travel with ear plugs and a noise machine. We enjoyed watching the whole show in the late evening, and even have it video-taped. Great to lean over the window and watch! There is another apartment, the Beatrice, that is supposed to be quieter, and shares the door with Dante; but there are no windows, and I really wanted to be able to look out.
This is a budget accommodation, so do not expect amenities. The loft might be dangerous for small children. Still it gave us some privacy and a bathroom in expensive Florence, and I liked the location near the Central Market.
