apartments on property near Sarzana, Liguria
WhenOctober 2007, 7 days LocationLocated just outside of the lovely town of Sarzana. The property is beautiful- well landscaped, peaceful, quiet and private. There is plenty of grass and well executed landscaping on the property. Nearby AmenitiesA car is a must for staying at Antico Casale. There are grocery stores within five minutes of the property. There are a few restaurants nearby, but I ate at the apartment or drove into Sarzana for meals out. The drive to Sarzana is 10 minutes and parking in the public lot was easy. The House/ApartmentEverything seemed fairly new but had a typical Tuscan decor. The apartment was beautiful with a large bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. There is a covered seating area just outside of the front door with a view of the swimming pool. There were about six other apartments next to mine, but I never heard sounds from the other apartments. GardenEach apartment has an outside seating area with nice chairs and shade. The pool was large and well maintained. There is plenty of lawn surrounding the property buildings. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in great shape and comfortable. The apartment was very clean and there were plenty of chairs at the dining table. There was a comfortable couch in the living/kitchen area for lounging. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe queen size bed was very comfortable with nice linens. There is plenty of room for clothing in the furniture found in the bedroom. The bathroom was large with a nice shower. KitchenI cooked many of my meals in the apartment and found I had all I needed. Everything was in excellent condition. Breakfast was included with the rental and served in a lovely breakfast room. Problems or BonusesThe property was a little difficult to find. The website map was either not detailed or accurate enough so I recommend researching on a map website for full details. The property was beautiful. There are a few horses kept on the property. The town of Sarzana was the big surprise - so lovely and non-touristy. The owners of the property do not speak English but I did not find this to be a problem. Agency and Representatives (and price)I booked on the website and thought the property was accurate or even better than the website revealed. The on site people did not speak English but I did not find this to be a problem. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I highly recommend staying at Antico Casale and look forward to returning. Things to do in this areaThis was a wonderful location for visiting Sarzana (highly recommended), the extreem NW Tuscany, Lerici, Portovenere, Cararra and the many small villages in the area.
