2bed/1bath apartment near Vatican Museum, Rome

When

May 2009, 4 days

Location

I just returned home from staying four days at this apartment in Rome, a couple of blocks from the entrance to the Vatican Museums. The location is outstanding on Via Mocenigo, perpendicular to Via Candia. It is also about a 5-10 minute easy walk to CIPRO Station Metro A line. The apartment itself is huge. Upon arrival to the building you go up a set of stairs to the actual elevator, which can open either below/above the actual apartment level. This makes for another set of about five to six steps you need to account for.

Nearby Amenities

There are about three supermarkets nearby, a drop-off or do it yourself laundry facility on parallel Via Tunisi (three minute walk) across from the Mercato Trionfale. The Mercato is a huge vegetable stand/market with all kinds of fresh vegetables and fruits every day (wonderful!). There are also two Internet cafes across the street and restaurants very close by.

The House/Apartment

The building is not historical, very nice and quiet. Friendly tenants.

Garden

No outside sitting area. Out the door you will face the Vatican Walls at about 100 meters.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture in good shape. Very clean. Four people would be very comfortable in the shared areas.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Loved my bed and the ceiling fan! Huge beds for Italian standards, very rare find.

Kitchen

No microwave, no toaster, did not use oven. Did cook breakfast, sandwiches, etc ... all fine

Problems or Bonuses

The washing machine was old; I much rather not used it and used the convenience of a drop-off laundry very close by. There is a phone you can make/receive calls. I made two very quick calls to the USA; owner was very gracious told me not to worry about it. WiFi and cable TV (no English channels, though).

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Toni the owner was wonderful to deal with, every email was addressed, every request was met, everything was as he stated. He also had Jonathan checking on us and he was a very courteous, helpful young man. The lady who did the cleaning was also wonderful; we found new linens, wonderful candies dish in our rooms, very nice details all around.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely stay here again. I have already sent two families to this apartment. I am planning a return trip.

Things to do in this area

Vatican Museums. Restaurants. Internet cafe.
