2bed/2bath apartment near San Marco, Venice WhenSeptember 2009, 1 week LocationThe apartment was in the San Marco area of Venice Italy. The location and area was perfect. It was on a small canal with gondoliers and walking distance to everything. It was very quiet. Nearby AmenitiesThere was a small market nearby and many cafes in the area for coffee and sandwiches. There was an extremely good restaurant very close and the Rialto market was less than a 10 minute walk. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was on the third floor and had a lift. The building was old as all of Venice buildings are, but it had been modernized. The apartment also had a rooftop terrace with a wonderful view. I'm not sure how many other apartments were in the building but we were the only ones on the third floor (I think that there was only one apartment per floor). GardenThe rooftop terrace was private and not shared by others. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furniture was in good shape and cleaned. Bedrooms/BathroomsBedrooms and baths were fine. The only comment that I would make is that the water pressure in the bath was low, but we were in Venice so I wouldn't call it a complaint. KitchenWe had all the necessary kitchen utensils, etc. Problems or BonusesThe rooftop terrace was a huge bonus as was the singing from the gondoliers from the small canal that we could watch from the windows. Maurizio from Venice Rentals met us at the dock and showed us to our apartment. He took time going over the area map and showed us where there was a small store as well as local points of interest. Agency and Representatives (and price)We worked with Denise and Maurizio with Venice Rentals. Both of them were wonderful to deal with. We communicated through emails before our trip and by phone while in Venice, both were very easy to communicate with and helped make our trip as wonderful as it was. Our apartment was €2100 for eight days, seven nights the first week of Sept 2009. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would definitely stay in this apartment again and will work with Denise and Maurizio again on our next trip. I would not have a problem recommending the apartment or Venice Rentals to anyone. Things to do in this areaThere are many small cafes in the area and we went to many of them and all were good. Our favorite restaurant was Ristorante da Raffaele. It is very close to the apartment and on the same small canal. The food, service, etc. was fabulous.
