Location

Le Manzinaie is a small farm in a valley to the east of Montepulciano. Our hosts, Marzia, Fiore and Alice have restored and remodeled an old farmhouse and outbuildings into several charming apartments.

Nearby Amenities

You need to have a vehicle. Groceries are available in Montepulciano Stazione (2 km) and Montepulciano (15 minutes). Upon arriving late Saturday night, our hosts stocked our apartment with some basic groceries to get us started due to stores being closed on Sunday. They were wonderful and so thoughtful!

The House/Apartment

The farm consisted of one main building with the owner's apartment and another apartment upstairs with approximately four to five apartments downstairs. The brick structure was built in the 1800's and has been beautifully restored/renovated. There are four other buildings on the property. Two of which have additional apartments in them. One contains a large entertaining area where our hosts provided a pasta making lesson and an incredible five course meal. There are many hand-painted stencils and beautiful murals on the walls of each room. Very peaceful and quiet wherever you are. Cars are allowed by room to drop off/pick up luggage, then parking is near the entrance of the property. A short, beautiful walk down a cypress-lined lane to main buildings - charming!!

Garden

Multiple outside seating areas, covered and uncovered. All are shared. Beautiful clean pool with many lounge chairs. Gardens were incredible; beautiful roses, jasmine, trumpet vine, and many other flowers and trees. We enjoyed fresh apricots, raspberries, zucchini, lettuce and peppers from their gardens during our stay in late June.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furnishings were not extravagant but were clean, comfortable and matched the decor of the room. Room well maintained. Nice large windows with beautiful views of gardens.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Bed was very comfortable. Nice big bathroom - shower and jacuzzi tub.

Kitchen

Adequate pots and pans; all were clean. We were able to cook complete meals in our kitchen.

Problems or Bonuses

The family-style meal on Wednesday night was a fabulous experience! Not to be missed! Alice was incredible - willing to help you with whatever you need, directions, tours, etc. We took a tour of a winery and she translated tirelessly the whole time. Staying at Le Manzinaie felt like being with family. Alice, Marzia and Fiore are fantastic ambassadors for Italy!

Getting to Le Manzinaie from Rome can be a challenge. It was our first time driving in Italy and we got lost numerous times. A GPS would be recommended.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Price was very fair for location, hospitality and quality of stay.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would highly recommend Le Manzinaie to anyone traveling to Tuscany. A relative recommended it to us and we were not disappointed.

Things to do in this area

Touring medieval cities: Montepulciano, Orvieto, Montalcino, San Gimignano, and countless others. Weekly markets, shopping, wine tours, and hiking. Touring abbeys and churches. Driving around and enjoying the scenery. Enjoying gelato and excellent restaurants.
