Review 4303: Ai Lumi, Apartment

Review by KellyC from NJ who is a SlowTrav Contributor

1bed/1bath apartment in B&B in Trapani, Sicily

August 2009

The Ai Lumi consists of a B&B, apartments, and a restaurant in an old Palazzo. We stayed in an apartment, located in the same building as the B&B and restaurant. The apartment had a bedroom, bath and kitchen living room with a balcony overlooking Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

It was a good size and the kitchen was equipped and stocked with coffee and tea as well as bottled water in the fridge, all complimentary. Our apartment was on the third floor, with no elevator. They have a mechanized basket that they put the luggage into to lift it up to the floor that your room is on, so that was not an issue. It was actually pretty hilarious to watch, with many people walking in to see the courtyard of the building and staring up at the bags being lifted up.

The hotel is very clean and nicely appointed with a mix of antiques and modern furniture that blend well together. The owner was very nice and very helpful regarding the bags and parking.

They have a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating on the ground floor. They serve a buffet breakfast there for guests and offer a 20% discount on lunch and dinner. We had dinner there one night and it was delicious.

The Ai Lumi is very charming and I really enjoyed staying there.
