3bed/2bath apartment near Montevarchi, Tuscany Chianti When19 sept, 1 week LocationA Tuscan hilltop, minutes away from Montevarchi, overlooking vineyards and olive groves. As you leave the highway, don't let the winding gravel road fool you, as you approach a cluster of buildings you are about to be home. Nearby AmenitiesWhile there is an adequate Coop in Bucine, a few minutes further there is an amazing Ipercoop in Montevarhi, both of which allow you to take full advantage of the great kitchen in Fienile. There are also plenty of small towns nearby that offer trattorias and stores. The House/ApartmentThe four of us stayed in Fienile, a barn converted into a house in 2006. Very comfortable with enough nooks that we each found places to sit, relax, and enjoy the library of books that Sara and Allen have provided. GardenThere is a table outside to dine alfresco with splendid views. There is also a terrace off the sun room surrounded with terra cotta planters spilling over with golden lantana where you may relax and enjoy the Tuscan sunset. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything is clean and well maintained. There is abundant seating, and the entire house is tastefully decorated as if someone is living there. There is also generous lighting throughout. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe beds are comfortable and the two singles can be made into a double. There are plenty of windows offering great views of the olive groves and vineyards surrounding you. The bathrooms are ample and nicely done. KitchenThe kitchen was my favorite room in the house. Everything a cook could possibly need can be found here. Many a fine meal have been cooked and served here, and there will be many more in the future. The table can seat from four to eight people, but we often found ourselves in the sun room. Problems or BonusesA bonus was the sun room. We found ourselves often gathering there, especially for an occasional candlelight dinner. Agency and Representatives (and price)Sara has instructions for everything from windows to appliances that are all very clear and appreciated. Although if you did have a question, she is close by and understanding, while being unobtrusive. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? What Sara and Allen have accomplished with Fienile is to allow you the feeling that you have a home in Tuscany, close enough to town, yet far from any noise save that from nature. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone. Things to do in this areaFlorence is a short train ride away, Arezzo and the Chianti towns are very near. We discovered a new trattoria Danielle e Riccardo, the food and the service were very nice. We also recommend Rendola, where we enjoyed our last meal in Tuscany, the food was amazing, and very near Fienile. Even though we spoke no Italian, everywhere we traveled we were met by friendly, helpful, and generous people. We hope to return some day...
