1bed/1bath apartment near Piazza Navona, Rome WhenRome, 9 Days LocationThe location in my opinion could not be better. Less than two minutes from the following:
Nearby AmenitiesEverything is nearby that you could want and is walking distance from all Rome's attractions. Only took cabs to get to the train station, which is too far to walk and especially with luggage. The House/ApartmentIt is an 500 year old palace that has been sectioned into apartments. It is in good shape and is clean. The entry and halls are a little old and run down but the apartment is fine. There are, from what we observed, at least two other apartment rentals in the building. You can view the property directly: Krone Vicoolo. GardenYou go up a flight and a half to a central courtyard that is divided into three parts by bamboo walls (three keys to get there). Then you enter your private patio and use your fourth key to get into your apartment. It is quiet and you only hear a mild amount of car noise and is no way obtrusive. Because the apartment is not air conditioned, you must leave your windows open and you can hear your neighbors. Depending on the neighbors it can be distracting but was never a big issues. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasIt is just as the website displays. Very accurate depiction. Bed is super hard but other wise is very nice. It was clean and comfortable. Quite large. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe Jacuzzi is great and a bit of an adventure to get to up in not more than a closet above the kitchen. The roof is low in there and you easily hit your head getting in and out but once in you are fine. The bathroom shower is small but functional. KitchenThe kitchen is complete and even has an oven (never used) and a full fridge. The microwave is old and a bit slow to heat but works. Most things we needed were there. Agency and Representatives (and price)The bookings went smooth, however I asked for an additional day, months before arriving. I was sent the new info etc. On arrival they acted as if I had just made the change and wanted me to pay more. The problem was multiplied by the fact the owner speaks NO English. Finally we made a phone call to someone who spoke both languages and worked it out. The Owner was very nice but spoke no English thus there was virtually no demonstration of anything in the apartment and what there was, was in Italian. There should be a book in the apartment explaining the the appliances etc. in English. In the end we figured everything out and our stay went well but it would have been nice to have an English speaking host or a book in English that explained some things in the apartment. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I think this apartment was wonderful and in a fantastic location. Be warned that there is no air conditioning and you must open all the windows, which increases noise. Also be aware that your host only speaks Italian. If you are okay with these two issues, then book this apartment. Things to do in this areaDefinitely eat at Da Baffetto Pizzeria for a hectic time with great pizza.
