When

Location

This holiday rental offered us two double and two single bedrooms just within a gate of the pre Roman city wall, a short walk from the 16th century Santa Maria della Consolazione, one of the true architectural miracles of central Italy. The staircase backs onto the little Romanesque apse of Santa Maria in Camuccia. The kitchen has views up the hillside to the 14th century bell tower of the important Franciscan basilica of San Fortunato. All of these views as well as the beautiful valley panorama from the balcony are really impressive. The owner offers this property with a well equipped kitchen and a dining room that is linked to the balcony. A good size swimming pool is available nearby for a daily fee. This is truly a remote location yet you are part of a superb little town with all facilities and an excellent range of restaurants, a theatre, museums and open air events in Summer.

Todi is still enjoyed by its residents and has few hotels. It represents very good value for those who enjoy small city breaks both active and passive. Its position allowed us to tour as far away as Pienza, Bolsena and its lake, Assisi, Orvieto, Bagnaia and Bomarzo as it is on the border of North East Lazio, a region with fantastic opportunities for family and specialist tourism. Car is essential and parking is easy.

Nearby Amenities

Spar supermarket a short distance. Restaurants a short walk away.

The House/Apartment

The apartment was well kept.

Garden

A small balcony only.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Furniture was good.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Beds clean and comfortable.

Kitchen

Very useful kitchen with enough utensils to cook for five of us.

Problems or Bonuses

Car access to unload suitcases is very difficult in a tiny medieval street. Steep hill walk would not suit everyone. There is a type of museum room, which is not usable, but does not create problems for visitors.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

No agency this time.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We went back for a second time in 2009 after a stay for a week in October 2008. It is a wonderful discovery for anyone who wants access to some of the best towns in central Italy.

Things to do in this area

Le Scalette in Todi is a fantastic little restaurant with valley views. Great bars and superb specialist shops. We bought carpets, ear rings, shirts at good prices.
