Review 4397: Sleep in Italy, Orbitelli

Review by nancythenice from US

1bed/1bath apartment across river from Castel Sant' Angelo, Rome

Oct. 26-30, 2009, 4 nights

Great location on quiet lane intersecting Via Giulia. The electro bus 116 stopped at the corner, a block from Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and two blocks from the Tiber. The area felt safe at all times and a bit removed from the Piazza Navona hustle bustle.

Nearby Amenities

A grocery was a couple of blocks away on Corso Vittorio Emmanuele. There was a coffee bar around the corner frequented by residents of the neighborhood. There were many nearby restaurants that seemed to be frequented by Italians rather than tourists.

The House/Apartment

The apartment was up one flight of stairs from the street, with only one other flat sharing the entry. The entry and stairs, as well as the apartment, were renovated, clean, well lit and modern. Very peaceful and quiet. The bedroom is in the back - off the street, and totally silent. The living area was also quiet, even with windows open, due to quiet street. There is a large living room with a kitchen wall. The bathroom opens off the entry and thus can be accessed without going through the bedroom. All the rooms felt spacious.

No outside areas.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furnishings were modern, clean and lovely. There was a sofa bed and a love seat, as well as an eating table for four, that looked like it would probably expand. There were twin beds in the bedroom, as well as a chest and a couple of chairs. The lighting was attractive and very good in both the bedroom and living room. The decor was attractive and warm with several nice art pieces and pictures. There was also a nice selection of books and maps, and umbrellas that could be used if needed.

The bathroom was very modern, clean design and pleasant. The water pressure wasn't the best, but the shower was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and the linens very nice.

The kitchen is arranged along one wall of the living area. Very modern. Had everything we needed for breakfasts and snacks - including an American style electric coffee pot. We didn't fix any meals.

Problems or Bonuses

The surprise was that the apartment was every bit as nice in person as it looked in the pictures on the rental website. It was so nicely designed and stylish that we loved coming home at the end of the day.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Sleep in Italy was OK. They were responsive and professional. We didn't deal with them at all once we arrived in Rome. I wish I had called the phone number of the owner in advance to confirm with him when we would meet to check in. It was pretty clear the owner would have been fine with us arriving earlier than the 10am time given us by Sleep In Italy.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this apartment to others.
