Review 4405: Le Casine di Castello, Il Cielo

Review by rfbk50 from MI

2bed/1.5bath apartment in Castelmuzio, Tuscany South

May 2009, 6 days

Our apartment, Le Casine di Castello, was in a tiny, quiet village in a beautiful setting. We could have not asked for a more perfect place to be "pretend" Italians for a week. Our apartment was on the second floor, with a third floor roof-top sitting area.

Nearby Amenities

We could walk the one short block to the village coop store where we could get everything we needed to make a meal or a quick lunch. There was an excellent restaurant right in the village and another more upscale restaurant a very short drive away.

The House/Apartment

There were two apartments in our building. Our second floor two bedroom apartment and a small one bedroom apartment on the ground floor. Our building, as well as the entire tiny village was historical. It seems as if time stood still in this tiny spot in Tuscany.

We had a private roof top sitting area with a table and chairs.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Our apartment had a fireplace in the well equipped kitchen. The furniture was comfortable and the apartment was extremely clean.

Our beds and linens were comfortable. We had a full bath plus a half bath. There were towels, hair dryer and bath products provided.

We had more than enough equipment to prepare full meals plus all kinds of dishes and glasses. We enjoyed cooking a few meals and having a fire in the kitchen fireplace as we ate by candlelight.

Problems or Bonuses

We were surprised just how much we enjoyed walking the one block to the store to get our groceries and just sitting on our roof top porch drinking wine.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Isabella could not be more helpful and gracious. The apartment was just as it was described.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We would definitely stay here again.

Things to do in this area

Castelmuzio is a perfect location for day trips to the many Tuscan towns. One of our best days was spent at a local outdoor mineral bath. Isabella has a BIG book in the apartment suggesting day trips, restaurant suggestions, etc. She has suggestions for all types of travelers.
