3bed/2bath house near Marostica, Veneto WhenMay 2000, 1 week LocationThis is a modern house in Mason Vicentino, a small town of about 3,000 people, very centrally located in the Veneto. It has a nice large yard, far enough away from the road that noise is no problem, but without any terrific view. It's a perfect house for 2 couples, or even 2 couples and 2 children. Nearby AmenitiesThe nearest restaurants and grocery shopping are within easy walking distance. The House/ApartmentThe house is in excellent shape, very clean and well-kept. GardenThere are 2 terraces, one with a nice seating/dining area. and the landscaping in the large yard is beutifully done. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasWe found the furniture to be good quality: leather sofas in the living room and some antique pieces scattered throughout the house. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bedrooms are very spacious, with comfortable beds, and the bathrooms are also large and modern. KitchenThe kitchen is extremely large and well-equipped, with all the pots and pans one needs for cooking full meals. Problems or BonusesWe were surprised by how spacious the rooms are, and how clean and comfortble the house is. Agency and Representatives (and price)Rentvillas.com was pleasant to deal with, and the onsite person, the owner who lives across the street, is quite hospitable although she speaks very little English. The website description and photos are accurate, although I do not share the minor criticisms listed there. I'm fanatical about cleanliness and had no complaint whatsoever. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would be happy to stay here again. It's a great place to find out what life is like in a REAL Italian town that does not depend on tourism at all. In fact, I do share the view expressed on the rentvilla.com web site that speaking some Italian in this area is a real plus, since most of the folks in restaurants and stores in nearby towns do not speak English. Things to do in this areaOne of the best things about the house, aside from the level of total comfort we experienced, is the location. We visited smaller, less well-known (but charming!!!) towns in the Veneto like Marostica, Bassano del Grappa, and Treviso, as well as Padova (Padua) and Vicenza. It's also just a bit over an hour to Trento (Trent) in the Trentino if you'd like to get a taste of the mountains in northern Italy.
