1bed/1bath apartment near Pantheon, Rome
WhenDecember 21, 2009, 10 days LocationI try to always post my apartment reviews both here and on Fodors. This is not an advertisement. My wife and I rented this apartment from Dec 21 until Jan 1 2009/2010, using Sleep in Italy as the broker. I guess the first thing that comes to mind is WOW. Of all the apartments we have rented through Sleep in Italy, and we have had some great ones, this one beat them all. First, location, location, location. It is one block from the Pantheon, three blocks from Navona. One hundred meters to the bus stop on either Renascimento or Corso, one block from a decent market and most important -- two blocks from Della Palma Gelato! Nearby AmenitiesYou could not count the number of restaurants within a five minute walk. The grocery store was on the next block. Several pizza places were within a block or two. Multiple cafes and coffee shops as well as some nice stores. The House/ApartmentThe apartment was a one bedroom with a great couch. It is beautifully appointed, looking down on Piazza Rondanini. The apartment was spotlessly neat and clean on arrival. It is air-conditioned, but being there in December we didn't try it out. There is absolutely nothing I could say as a negative against this apartment and would give anything if it were available in February when we return. Even though the piazza has three restaurants, with the windows closed there was not a sound. It is a very secure location, very secure. You can view the property directly: Rondanini. GardenThere is no balcony, but there are two windows opening onto the piazza. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasFurniture was excellent, comfortable and probably expensive. The dining table sat six easily. The couch was great and I'm over six feet tall. It may be a sofa bed, but we did not try to open it. In the entryway, there is an entire wall of closets. Bedrooms/BathroomsI have a bad back and while the bed might be a bit hard for some folks, for us it was perfect. The bedroom is pretty large, with a large dresser. The bathroom was really big and beautifully appointed. KitchenIt has a fully equipped kitchen, with washer and dishwasher. High-speed Internet and very modern tile work throughout. Lots of counter space, plenty of pots and pans and silverware.
Problems or BonusesI was surprised at the quality of the apartment, it really exceeded my expectations. The owner was friendly and waiting patiently on us, even though our plane was an hour late. Agency and Representatives (and price)As usual, Sleep In Italy went overboard in helping us. We loved this apartment and would highly recommend it for two, three or (if it is a sofa bed couch) four. This one gets four stars from us! I'd give anything if it were available when we return in February, but unfortunately it isn't. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Without a doubt I would recommend this apartment and Sleep In Italy. Things to do in this areaThere are so many restaurants it is almost impossible to count. Navona is maybe five minutes away, Pantheon is two minutes, Trevi is maybe 10 minutes, bus stops are 100 meters away, gelato is two blocks away. Oh, and my wife says to be sure to mention the Murano glass store is just a few blocks away. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
