1bed/1bath apartment in Dorsoduro, Venice WhenDecember 2009 - January 2019, 3 weeks ReviewWe spent nearly three weeks in Del Gondoliere which is part of Palazzo Nani Bernardo. This is the smaller of the two apartments available in this lovely Palazzo with its spectacular garden at the rear. It’s located at the end of Calle Bernardi, right next to Ca’Rezzonico, so very convenient for everything. The apartment faces onto the Grand Canal with two large windows looking across to Palazzo Grassi. We booked direct with the owner Elisabetta, and as we were staying for more than two weeks received a discount off the advertised €1000 per week. A 25% deposit was paid via bank transfer and the balance in cash on our arrival. The palazzo has a full time caretaker who speaks good English and he was on hand for any queries and to provide fresh sheets and towels weekly. He would also have cleaned for us if we’d wanted. This was an extremely comfortable apartment with a large living room containing a two-seat sofa, two armchairs, desk, sideboard and coffee table. There's a good sized bedroom with king bed and a whole wall of wardrobes. From the hallway with sideboard you enter the large kitchen/dining room, which is equipped with a four-burner stove, oven/grill, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, sideboard and seating for four. There was an excellent selection of pots, pans, cutlery and kitchen equipment, and fair choice of crockery and glassware. Also off the hallway is the smallish bathroom with toilet, bidet, bath and hand held shower and a washing machine. Overall the furnishings and fittings are old-fashioned but in good condition and very comfortable. This was a fabulous apartment in a lovely location – it had excellent views and is close to shops and restaurants. We loved it and will most certainly be returning when we next visit Venice. There are very few photos of the apartment on the website, but you can see more photos here. Note: the sofa is now a modern 2.5 seater and the bed is now a king size rather than two singles.
