Review 4492: Owner, Cassiopea

1bed/1bath apartment in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna

Nov. 2009, 1 week

This lovely apartment is located just outside the centro storico of Bologna, on a quiet street close to the hospital. It is well connected with bus lines to the city, but we always walked into the city (15 minute walk) even in the evenings. The area is residential and you do not see many tourists or crowds. The restaurants and bars are full of locals and it is the perfect area to enjoy a slice of the real Bologna.

Nearby Amenities

Just around the corner from the apartment building, there are many food stores, bars, bakeries, restaurants, and even shopping. The street that leads into the center is also full of food shops and restaurants.

The House/Apartment

The building is old (no elevator), but it great shape: clean and very well kept up. Excellent security: gate and front door both require keys. The apartment is on the top floor and very private and quite. There are a total of 8-10 apartments in the building.

The apartment has the perfect layout: a well equipped kitchen that can handle cooking full meals (unlike many rental kitchens), a large bathroom, a decent-sized bedroom, and a wonderful living room with two couches and a table with two chairs. The apartment is square-shaped and feels very cozy and open. It is a great size for two or even three people.

You can view the property directly: Cassiopea.

There is a small balcony that looks out on the city, with excellent views, so in good weather that would be the perfect place to have breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening. The area is residential, so you can walk on the streets surrounding the apartment.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in excellent shape, well maintained and comfortable. The apartment was very clean and the owners had made a point of providing things such as soap, etc. so you immediately feel at home. There is a washing machine in the bathroom, which I never used. There is also a full stove in the kitchen. There are enough chairs for at least four people and plenty of room in the living room.

The bed is very comfortable. The bedroom is quiet and well decorated. The couches in the living room are also very comfortable for sitting (and potentially sleeping). The bathroom is spacious, clean, and well equipped.

As mentioned earlier,t he kitchen is fully-equipped, clean, and provides all the necessary things for cooking as well as sugar, salt, oil, and even coffee. The kitchen can easily handle full meals. The owner, Anna Rita had made a ricotta almond cake and left it in the fridge for breakfast. It was absolutely delicious!

Problems or Bonuses

Only good: the owners are the nicest people you can imagine. They are kind, helpful, and really care about the comfort of their guests. In addition to providing a delicious ricotta cake, they also provide bus tickets, maps, and all the information necessary for you to enjoy a visit to Bologna. There is a phone in the apartment that can be used for local calls and also a WiFi Internet connection.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The owners speak some English, but they also have a friend who is English-speaking and who can answer any questions about the apartment and assist in the booking process. They respond to emails very promptly and are very kind and welcoming. The perfect hosts!

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

This is definitely the place I am staying at on my next visit to Bologna. Perfect location, perfect apartment, perfect owners. You cannot ask for anything more!

Things to do in this area

We usually went into the center for dinner, but there are a couple of wine bars right around the corner that are perfect for drinks. Also, the bakeries on the street make some excellent Bolognese specialties. There are several pizza places around the corner, but I didn't have time to try any of them.
