Review 4537: Summer In Italy, Villa Gioconda

Review by Cleo from UK

4bed/4bath house near Agropoli, Campania

March 2010, 1 week

The property is a Villa on a hillside 10 minutes drive out of Agropoli. The large terrace with swimming pool is private and overlooks the country side with the sea in the distance.

Nearby Amenities

The nearest grocery store was at least 10 minutes drive or a 40 minute walk down a steep hill. There was a pizzeria a two minute walk from the property but this is only open at weekends. Otherwise there are plenty of restaurants in nearby towns. The villa house keeper will cook for you by arrangement. There is a pizza oven in the basement of the property and she is a very good cook.

The House/Apartment

The villa is large (plenty of space for 10 adults) slightly dated in decor but spotless and well kept. It is split over three stories, two bedrooms have balconies and there is a large kitchen and two lounge areas with plenty of seating.

The location was peaceful and in a rural location. There are properties either side of the villa but we did not see or hear any disturbance from them.

Large split level terracing with plenty of seating and dining areas. The pool is private and of a good size and well kept. The views are great and the terrace is not overlooked and provides a good mix of sunny and shaded areas.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture was in good condition, comfortable and very clean. There was more than enough seating and space.

The beds were comfortable although a few of the party thought they were a bit hard. Three bedrooms had en suites, the forth had a bathroom nearby. The bathrooms were clean and well kept but the showers were not modern and at times the water pressure in the showers was not so good.

Great kitchen with large farmhouse table. Fine for cooking meals for a large number. Direct access onto the terrace and alfresco dining area.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We used Summer in Italy to book the property. Booking was all done via email but it was friendly and efficient. Because the on site property representative didn't speak English we could phone Summer in Italy and they acted as an interpreter for us. The service they provided was very personal and I would definitely book with them again.

The published information was a true representation of the property and the website had many pictures of the property which helped when finalizing our choice.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would definitely stay here again.
