Review 454: La Bella Toscana, San Pietro Apartments

Review by Yuriko from HI

apartments in San Gimignano, Tuscany West

November 3-10, 2002, one week

We highly recommend the San Pietro apartment in San Gimigano (owner Mr. Andrea Marucci, agent Ms. Gaynor Powell of La Bella Toscana).

San Pietro is located within the San Gimigano walls, a smallish medieval village where you can just spend lazy days and soak in the ambience instead of being a power tourist determined to soak up every single sight. The apartment was clean, provided great value (300 euros/week in early November 2002) and was located very close to the central street going through San Gimigano. What impressed us most was that Andrea, a very cheerful young man, was very keen to make sure we were happy and that we enjoyed San Gimigano itself, and that Gaynor Powell provided us with a very detailed brochure regarding restaurants, shops, emergency numbers, etc.

If you are in a power tourist mode, there are day trips you can take advantage of outside the wall, but aside from a day trip to Siena (one hour away by bus), we just enjoyed the small village atmosphere.
