Vacation rentals in Italy (villas, farms, estates, agriturismo, apartments)
Review 4559: Appartamenti al Poggiolo, Apartment
apartments in Montepulciano, Tuscany South
May 2010, 2 weeks
The apartment is located in Montepulciano. It is in a quiet area of town but only two minutes from all the action. It had a lovely garden area. There is parking available for those traveling by car. Our apartment had a balcony and the views were incredible.
Although the apartment was in a quiet area, it was only a two minute walk to the main drag of town. There are some smaller grocery stores nearby. The main grocery store is at the bottom of the hill and takes about ten minutes to walk to. There are plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walking from the apartment.
The building is historic and completely restored. The apartment was very peaceful and located in a quiet area of town. Behind the building there is a large garden and parking for those traveling by car. There was one full bath with shower and a separate half bath; one master bedroom with queen bed, and a smaller bedroom with two twin beds. The kitchen/dining area was large enough and had everything, even a dishwasher. The living room was not huge but comfortable. There was hardwired Internet at no extra charge. Our apartment had the only balcony and the views were magnificent. In this building there were three other apartments. There seem to be a total of seven apartments for rent.
There is a beautiful garden in the back of the building. And yes there is a sitting area which is shared by other people. There is no pool.
The furniture is in very good shape. The beds were comfortable. The apartment looked very clean to me. The apartment sleeps four people and yes there were enough chairs.
The beds were comfortable and both bedrooms were nice. There is one full bath with shower and one half bath. Both were fine.
I cooked most breakfasts and several meals in the kitchen. It had all utensils, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery, etc. All was in good condition. It had a microwave oven and dishwasher. There was no regular oven. I never enjoy cooking in any kitchen but this kitchen worked out fine for cooking full meals, provided one does not expect a six course meal for more than four people.
Problems or Bonuses
We had no problems whatsoever.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We booked through the owner. Both Margherite and Elena, the owners, speak English and both are very accommodating. Their website gives you a very good idea of what the place will be like. We paid €700 per week for the first part of May 2010.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would highly recommend staying at these apartments. If I would go to Tuscany again I would stay there in a heartbeat. And yes I would recommend the apartments to my best friends. I was leery at first booking something like this via the Internet, but the place exceeded my expectations. It was great.
Things to do in this area
We visited various towns around Montepulciano. Cortona is about 30 minutes by car, Siena is about 45 minutes, Assisi is about 1.5 hours, Pienza is about 15 minutes. Driving around the Tuscan countryside is a real treat. We ate several times at Trattoria di Cagnano in Montepulciano which we liked very much.
