1bed/1bath apartment in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna WhenMay 2010, One week LocationThis apartment was in Via Collegio di Spagna, Bologna, Italy. The location is excellent, in walking distance to everything, probably only 5-10 minutes walk from Piazza Maggiore. (Walking to the train station only took us 25 minutes.) The street, Via Collegio di Spagna, and the street that it turns into, Via Saragozza, have everything you need – bars for the morning coffee, small grocery stores, tabacchi, bakery, rosticceria, there is even a restaurant right next door. I always prefer the southern part of the city, where all the old buildings are still intact, and this location is perfect. Nearby AmenitiesEverything is very close and walkable. The House/ApartmentI believe there were two rental apartments in this particular building, on the top floor. You had to walk up three flights of stairs. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe apartment itself is very nice, clearly recently renovated and with a really pretty bathroom with fan, hairdryer, rain shower, soaps/shampoos, plenty of towels, etc. The apartment has a separate bedroom; however, I think it is worth noting that one part of the wall that separates the living room and bedroom is not a wall, but a big shelving unit – it means that sound travels easily between the two, i.e. if you sleep in the living room you can hear the snoring from the bedroom! This is of course not at all a big deal, especially if you just use the bedroom. We had the bedroom set up with two twin beds, and one bed in the living room, and it worked great for us. The beds were comfortable, I thought. We had no real complaints, but if you are a very light sleeper you might want earplugs, since you can hear the traffic down on the street. (I wore earplugs when I wanted to sleep in.) KitchenThe kitchen has a small fridge and two burners, but no oven. It had all the plates and glasses we could need – the only thing I thought was missing was a small, sharp knife. (There was a big sharp knife, though!) We also appreciated that there was salt, pepper, oil, some spices, and breakfast pastries/cookies available. The kitchen table seats four comfortably. Problems or BonusesExcellent free wireless Internet. Fast and perfect the whole time we were there. Agency and Representatives (and price)The manager of the Residenza is extremely helpful and accommodated our constantly changing arrival times (lost a connection flight, ash cloud, etc.) and even carried my mother’s suitcase up all the stairs! She helped us settle in and gave us all the info we needed. She also helped my mother with ordering a taxi and we felt that we could ask her for assistance whenever it was necessary. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? We recommend the Residenza and would definitely stay there again. It was a very comfortable place to stay.
