apartments in Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenMay 2010, 1 week LocationThe apartment was in the center of town, yet on a very quiet side street, You either walked up or down to get to everything in town. We really liked the location. The best part was the private parking of a gated garden and the ease of getting in and out. Nearby AmenitiesWe walked everywhere, there was a cafe right at the bottom for coffee and two small grocery stores within walking distance and would would have everything you need, but yo do have to make it back up the hill. They are convenient for small quantities. There is a larger grocer a short distance drive. Many restaurants are close by. The House/ApartmentThe main building, Giardino was lovely and very well taken care of. The owners take great pride in the upkeep of the building and apartments. There are four apartments and we were in apartment three (2bed/1bath) with a small balcony to enjoy the spectacular view. The living room also had sweeping views of the valley with Montalcino in one direction and Lake Trasamino in another. At night you could see the twinkling lights of Assisi. GardenIt had a beautiful garden with Wisteria blooming and an area that had tables and chairs for guests. Unfortunately we were there experiencing their coldest, wettest May so we were unable to enjoy it. There was a large vegetable garden that I assumed was for the guests use since it was in the shared garden area. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe furnishings were first class and had an antique feel, it was immaculately clean, and we felt right at home, there was a nice couch and two chairs along with a desk in the living room and a table for four in the kitchen. The bed was very comfortable and had drapes that made the room dark for great sleeping. They had WiFi available, and satellite TV and a CD player. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was very comfortable and had drapes that made the room dark for great sleeping. There was a dresser and an armoire for clothes. The second bedroom has two twin beds. There is a full roomy bath with a (large shower) I say large if you have experienced Italian showers before, you know what I am talking about. And because it was cold I sure enjoyed the heated towel rack. There is second half bath with a toilet and sink. KitchenThe kitchen was fantastic, again the owners take pride and everything was first class. There was no oven, but did have a microwave, and a dishwasher. Also included was an American coffee maker and a toaster. The kitchen was equipped and big enough to cook large meals. I only used it once and it had everything I needed and sitting at the table looking at the view is just stunning. Problems or BonusesWe were pleasantly surprised at such a fantastic place, the pictures look nice but once we were actually there, we were in awe. The bonus was the washer and dryers available for the guests to use. Agency and Representatives (and price)Elena and Margherita, and their husbands, the owners were wonderful, they spoke very good English and were very responsive in emails. They rent Saturday - Saturday as they now live in Rome and are there to greet you when you arrive. They left numbers if we needed to get a hold of them during the week. The apartment was better in person than on the website. We paid €700 for the week. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?I would highly recommend this place, and definitely stay here again. Things to do in this areaWe ate at several wonderful restaurants in town. We booked a wine tour through the local Vino Del Strada tourist that is located in the main square and thoroughly enjoyed it. We made day trips to Pienza and Montalcino. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
