Review 4622: Residence Cascina Moia, Apartment

Review by Don Snider from MO

Apartments in Pollone, Piemonte

May 16, 2010, 3 nights

This apartment is at the edge of the little town of Pollone, near Biella Italy. It is a beautiful area with mountain views and ready access to many small towns and sights of interest to the traveler. There is a quite beautiful, large park that has a wide variety of flora, most notably Rhododendron. Biella is a very nice town to visit. There are numerous places for hiking, biking and camping.

Nearby Amenities

The apartments are on the edge of Pollone and one can walk to a couple of small grocery stores and other services. A car would be best to have for travel to the small towns although we are sure there is a variety of public transportation alternatives. We always rent a car so we didn't explore public transportation.

The House/Apartment

The building is very newly remodeled and is extremely well equipped, very clean and comfortable. It was very quiet, has private gated parking and a beautiful view. The apartment consists of a combined kitchen/dining/sitting area, a large private bathroom with shower, bidet and stool. There is a good washing machine in the apartment with a clothes rack for drying. The one bedroom is quite adequate, there is good lighting throughout. All elements of the apartment are on one floor. We stayed in the ground floor apartment with a terrace. The second and third floor apartments have a balconies with a view.

There is a large patio just outside the ground floor apartment. There are other sitting, lounging areas. There is no pool.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

All furniture and appliances were in good shape and comfortable. Linens, drapes, etc. were in good shape. There was more than adequate seating.

The bed was large and comfortable with reading light on both sides. The bathroom was well light and quite comfortable with a very good supply of hot water.

The equipment in the kitchen all worked well. We like to cook and make somewhat complex meals and this was one of the better kitchens we have used.

Problems or Bonuses

We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and well appointed the apartment was. We are returning this fall for a longer stay in the area.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

They were very accommodating. The family live within visual distance from the apartment and were readily available to all questions. I speak some Italian and that helped with communication but I am convinced that the two sisters would be able to handle the everyday communication you would need via English or hand language. The pricing is very reasonable for the far above adequacy of the apartment. We have visited Italy on 15 occasions since 1998 and this is one of the best apartments we have stayed in.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes, Si, Yah.

Things to do in this area

Cooked, visited many small towns, toured the garden in the same town and visited many notable destinations, monasteries etc. Biella old town is not to be missed. Ristorante Baracca is a very typical reasonably priced and quite good restaurant in Biella. Via S. Eusebio 12 Biella. It has an excellent wine list.
