Review 4634: Angeli's House, Roman Forum Palace

Review by Petra and Brent H from Canada

studio apartments near Cavour Metro, Rome

September 2009, 4 1/2 weeks

We were in Monti one of the best and oldest location in Rome. It is where the real Romans and their family live. It is lively, charming and full of small and interesting shops and excellent restaurants. We love the old, narrow cobblestone-streets and mix in with the locals on their daily outings.

Nearby Amenities

Monti is full of restaurants, grocery stores and numerous small and appealing delis. We walked everywhere.

The House/Apartment

Angeli's House is four stories high with one apartment on each floor. It is historical, very well maintained, safe and secure. The condition of the apartment (we stayed in "A" with terrace) is excellent, extra clean and comfortable. It is an "open" concept and most attractive.

It is not peaceful and quiet but in Rome this does not exist! Rome is vibrant and living all day, all night.

There is a beautiful, private rooftop patio with a great view and away from the street noises (more or less).

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furniture is good and comfortable and all is new, clean and in good shape.

The sleeping accommodations are comfortable. The bed linen was old and mediocre quality. There is one modern bathroom but on the small size. Shower, no tub.

The kitchen area is small and basically well equipped, maybe not to cook a five course meal but who cares when on vacation! The dishes are fine but the pots and pans could be newer. I think Alessio never asked his wife/girlfriend what should be in a kitchen since there was no pot holders, dishcloth or tea towels but there were many tablecloths!

Problems or Bonuses

Our first impression was very good and we grew fonder of our pleasant little "home" as the time went on. The outside area was the best feature and we ate outside everyday, for our morning coffee and night meal when not in a restaurant.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We dealt with the owner and his associate. Both were courteous and spoke very good English and the place was accurately well described in the publicity. We paid the seasonal price. One unexpected surprise was the charge for consumed electricity, which we found high.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes we would stay there again and I already did recommend it to friends.

The cost is kind of high but Rome is more expensive than other European cities.

Things to do in this area

Monti is centrally located, so it is easy to walk everywhere and visit the numerous sites like the beautiful monuments, Roman ruins (Colosseum etc.), the numerous churches and museums full of breathtaking art, the splendid architecture and so on ... Rome is eternal, there is nothing like it in the whole world!
