2bed/2bath villa near Citta della Pieve, Umbria

May 22-29, 2010, 1 week

Situated on the edge of Citta della Pieve, down an unpaved but well maintained road, surrounded by olive groves, it is near another house on the property, but still very private and quiet.

Nearby Amenities

A three minute drive into town, heartier folks might walk in, but not me. The town is full of cafes and restaurants, and has three grocery stores.

The House/Apartment

While the building could have been built 200 years ago, it was not; it's modern construction that respects the landscape and culture. On the main floor, the kitchen, dining and living areas were spacious, and included a 1/2 bath with a washing machine. Upstairs were two bedrooms, both very large, and each with their own bath. The stone floors and exterior walls will keep this house cool even in the dog days of summer.

On the bottom floor there is a pool table and two additional bedrooms and one bathroom, to accommodate larger parties.

The house was well equipped and comfortable, and was a highlight of our trip.

You can view the property directly: Belvedere.

There is an outside seating area, shaded and with a charcoal grill. Down the stairs from that area is the pool, which also has a shaded area, and which was well maintained and a real joy on a hot afternoon. There are four lounge chairs with cushions (and I image more are tucked away if the house if full).

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The house was immaculate and well furnished. The living and dining areas offered plenty of seating.

The beds could be a bit softer. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The bathrooms were very nice.

The kitchen was perfect, with good appliances and a ton of dishes and glasses that were in great condition. The pots and pans were a bit thin, but quite serviceable. we cooked nearly all our meals in the house, and it was great.

Problems or Bonuses

The owner, Jacopo, was very sweet and helpful. He was at the house at dawn every day to maintain the pool and water the plants, but you never knew he was there unless you stepped outside at 6am, as I did one day.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The agency was a pleasure to deal with, though it would have been nice to know that the house is generally not ready until 3pm, and that Jacopo is not fluent in English. He does have a friend he brings to interpret, in three languages, and his phone number is also provided.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would stay there again in a heartbeat! Loved this place, the town, the owner, all of it! I highly recommend this place to everybody.

Things to do in this area

This is a great central location to many area sites. we even drove to the coast one day (which was quite an adventure), and there are a wealth of day trips within a 30-45 minute drive.
