Review 4674: San Potente, Villa Rosy

Review by Rocco S from AZ

apartments in converted farm house near Assisi, Umbria

May 29, 2010 through June 12, 2010, 14 days

The Villa Rosy is located on a beautiful olive grove a very short distance from Assisi, Rivotorto, and Spello Umbria. The location is perfect with a great view of Assisi and Mount Subasio directly behind the Villa. It is in a wonderful area to explore Umbrian hill towns or relax in a peaceful and very beautiful environment.

Nearby Amenities

A very friendly coffee bar is located in Rivotorto, a short walk down the hill from the Villa Rosy. There is also a market to buy groceries and a number of restaurants in Rivotorto. A very short drive from the Villa Rosy is Assisi with many, many shops, and restaurants. In addition, Spello is a very convenient drive and also has many great restaurants, coffee bars, shops and a large supermarket. There is also a winery between the Villa Rosy and Spello which offers a number of very nice wines at reasonable prices.

The House/Apartment

The Villa Rosy is a historic farmhouse located on a working olive grove. It was the perfect place for our group of eight to stay and has four very nice bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The villa has three floors with a large, well equipped kitchen, living and dining area, and bedroom located on the first floor, two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor, and another large living, dining area, bedroom and bath on the third floor. The floors are connected by a spiral staircase and each floor also has an outside entrance also. The location and layout of the farmhouse make it the perfect place for a gathering of friends or family reunion. It is kept in excellent condition and Corinna, Luciana and Paolo are very gracious hosts.

Our group of friends spent most of out time outside enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of the area. Their are a number of patios and eating areas as well as benches and other areas to relax, read, take a nap or just enjoy the company of friends and family. A large pool is located on the property where we spent many hours during our recent vacation. There is also a laundry room behind the villa which made it very convenient. The highlight of out trip was the meals that we would prepare every evening and eat outdoors with a view of Assisi, Mount Subasio and the beautiful Umbrian countryside.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The furnishings were in fine shape and very comfortable. There were eight adults in our travel group and we were all very comfortable and had plenty of room. Everything was kept in very nice shape and the villa was extremely clean and well cared for.

The beds were very comfortable and each of the four bedrooms has an attached bathroom which were large by European standards.

Cooking together in the large, well-equipped kitchen and enjoying all our meals on the outside patio were the highlight of our trip to the Villa Rosy. There is also a large dining room on the bottom floor for those who prefer to eat inside.

Problems or Bonuses

I booked the villa after finding their website and it was even nicer than we were expecting. We could not have been happier with our stay and we could not have stayed in a more beautiful spot in Umbria.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

We booked the Villa Rosy through the owners, Paolo, Luciana and Corinna and they were extremely helpful. There was a basket of baked goods and their award winning olive oil waiting for us on our arrival. Luciana, Paolo and Corinna provided groceries for us that we had requested prior to arrival and even had us to their summer house for a hand-weaving demonstration and a delicious meal.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

We will definitely visit the Villa Rosy again, in fact some in our group have already contacted them to reserve dates for next year!

Things to do in this area

This is a wonderful area to visit the hill towns of Umbria with Assisi and Spello located very close by. The small town of Rivotorto, an easy walk from the Villa, turned out to be one of our very favorite places. We would start each morning with a visit to the Pampanni Bar in Rivotorto for coffee and pastries. We would visit later in the day for gelato or even stop in for a cold beer on a few hot afternoons. Renzo and his family, the owners of the Pampanni Bar truly treated us like family.
