Review 4687: Tuscany Now, Podere Casalfava
5bed/5bath house near Sarteano, Tuscany South
June 19-26 2010, one week
The house is in the country 3 kilometers outside of Sarteano.
No, amenities nearby; you must drive.
The building is great. It's new and in outstanding condition.
Large outside area with gardens, pool and a view.
Great. And there is a terrific summer kitchen.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
We had a big problem with the agency, Tuscany Now. In the contract there is a statement "If the euro drops below €1.30 to the dollar, a surcharge may be applied". There is no mention of how much, or the way the charge will be assessed in the contract or that it will actually be assessed. We were billed over $800 as a surcharge! We found this unconscionable to levy such a huge fee. At the time we were billed we stood to lose our entire deposit (half of the rental) if we backed out of the rental. I wrote to Tuscany Now asking how they can justify such a fee and the simply replied with a formula calculating how they arrived at the $800.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
The house was great - beware of Tuscany Now.
