apartments on a farm near Pienza, Tuscany South WhenJuly 17-31, 2010, 2 weeks LocationBeing in Tuscany, Cretaiole has the views, the location, and the total feel of the region. It is up to the visitor to then embrace the life and culture of Italy and the Tuscany region. This is really quite easy, once you get to know the Moricciani family, the proprietors of Cretaiole. Nearby AmenitiesFifteen minute drive away for coffee, groceries or restaurants. The House/ApartmentBuilt in 1890, great shape, peaceful, quiet, other apartments of different shapes and sizes that followed the architecture of this old farmhouse. GardenNo pool, shared courtyard, shared enclosed veranda. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything depicts an old Italian farmhouse style. Bedrooms/BathroomsBedrooms were great, bathroom was quite sufficient for our needs. KitchenVery usable, no problems, and enough cookware to do what we needed. Problems or BonusesPlease read my note under recommendations below. Agency and Representatives (and price)On site folks (owners and friends), most spoke English very well, place was much better than advertised - €1250 per week. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Never have I been to a place where the customer has been so thoroughly thought of and taken care of. If you are looking for a pool, spa, amusement park, shopping malls, golf, or other items one might normally look for in a vacation, Cretaiole is not for you. But, if you want to taste and feel what it is to be an Italian, to understand their way of life, embrace their culture, then their is no finer place than Cretaiole. It is as wonderful for adults of all ages as it is for kids with plenty of room for them to run and enjoy. The carefuly selected activities that Isabella Moricciani has so wonderfully brought to the visitor are a rare glimpse into the past, present and future of Italy, the Tuscany region, Pienza, the small town that has and is everything that is Italian, and Cretaiole. Many of these activities are only available through Cretaiole - all you need do is to mention Isabella or Cretaiole and a smile comes to the Italian face and you are made welcome and become a friend immediately. To one and all, never fear for the Moricciani family is always near when you visit Cretaiole and the life and culture of Tuscany. Things to do in this areaFavorite restaurant - La Buca de Enea - great, fantastic, delicious food prepared right there as you wait, very small, quaint, typically Italian, wonderful owners - Antonio and Gabriella could not do enough for you. You would be remiss if you do not eat there at least once!! Favorite shops - all of them that are in Pienza, the town closest to Cretaiole.
