1bed/1bath apartment in Arezzo, Tuscany East
WhenJune 2010, 6 nights LocationThe apartment is located in the historic center of Arezzo. Nearby AmenitiesThere are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and a medium sized grocery store all within walking distance. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is off a side street and very quiet. It has a private entrance into the garden through a locked gate. The owner lives in one of the upper level apartments. GardenThere is a very nice, large private garden with a small pergola. Under the shaded pergola there is small cafe table and four chairs. There is also a very large table with chairs right outside the kitchen. Two lounge chairs were available to use as well. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasEverything is in very nice condition. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The table in the kitchen sits six. The apartment consisted of a kitchen, bedroom, and a small room that held another bed. That room is down a hallway and where the washing machine is located. It also has bookshelves filled with all kinds of reading material. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe bed was very comfortable. There were two comfy chairs in the bedroom as well. The bathroom is two steps up from the bedroom. The apartment is better suited to a couple or a couple with a child since the only way to access the bathroom is from the bedroom. The bathroom has a shower no tub. The owner provides plenty of towels. There was also hand soap, toilet paper, shampoo, and a hair dryer. KitchenThe kitchen had lots of pots, pans, plates, cups, etc. There were even two different sizes of mokas! There is a automatic coffee pot, electric kettle, toaster, and microwave. The kitchen also had a full sized fridge and four burner stove with oven. There is not a lot of counter space to prepare food on but the table in the kitchen provided plenty of room. There were some knives but nothing very sharp. Dish soap was provided. Problems or BonusesThe welcome basket. Tina, the owner, provides an assortment of items for a few days. Croissants, jam, butter, tea, coffee, cookies, milk, orange juice and even a bottle of wine. There is also a washing machine and a drying rack that can be set up outside. There was laundry soap as well. The apartment is a garden level apartment and therefore doesn't get tons of sunlight. It does stay very cool on the hottest of days so didn't need air conditioning. The last few feet to get to the entrance is fairly steep but wasn't a problem for us. Agency and Representatives (and price)Tina is a lovely Australian women who has been living in Italy for the past 25 years. She was very easy to work with and responded quickly to emails. I had found the apartment on her site Arezzo Tuscan Apartments (Il Vicolo) but booked through HomeAway. Once you are settled into the apartment, Tina takes you around Arezzo pointing out places to buy bread, gelato, and restaurants that she recommends. We wanted to stay for seven nights but the apartment was only available for six nights. We paid €420, which included a cleaning fee for June 2010. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely! We loved coming back at the end of the day to sit under the pergola, drink wine, and relax. It was by far the best value of our entire three week trip. Things to do in this areaWe really enjoyed exploring Arezzo. Arezzo is a lively town with some very good restaurants. We did not have a car but did make a few day trips to Siena, Cortona, and Poppi. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
