1bed/1bath apartment near Piazza Navona, Rome WhenMay 1, 2010 - May 8, 2010, 1 week LocationThis apartment is in the historic centre of Rome between the Piazza Navona and the Vatican City. It is just off the piazza Santa Maria della Pace and the Via dei Coronari. Nearby AmenitiesAll the streets in the vicinity have restaurants and the piazza Santa Maria della Pace has cafes, groceries and a wonderful cafe for breakfast and lunch at the Chiesa della Santa Maria itself. The House/ApartmentThe apartment is a lovely combination of the modern and historical. You enter from the street through a large doorway and walk up a stone stairwell that shows the 500 years of footsteps to a light and beautifully decorated apartment. The apartment itself has high wood beamed ceilings, windows and doors opening onto the inner courtyard balcony which has flowering plants and good sunlight. There are several other apartments on each level though there is little noise day or night. You can view the property directly: Vicolo di Montevecchio. GardenThe living room doorway opens up to the shared balcony. Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe living room sofas were tasteful and comfortable and accentuated by some antiques and interesting art work. Bedrooms/BathroomsThe queen size bed is comfortable and the closet of good size for travelers. The bathroom had modern fixtures and a small tub with hand-held shower. We were impressed by the cleanliness throughout. KitchenThe kitchen is small but perfect for making a small meal or having a relaxing picnic at home. All the necessary equipment is there and easy to use. You must try the little stove top espresso coffee maker to have a truly Italian breakfast. Problems or BonusesThe quality of the apartment, the pretty windows and window coverings, and the excellent books on Rome available to guests helped to make our stay in Rome a success. Agency and Representatives (and price)Domus International was a terrific group to work with. They worked well with us by email beforehand and were helpful and welcoming on our arrival in Rome. Definitely take their offer of arranging a driver from the airport to this location (unless you are familiar with Rome) as - after a long flight - it would have been a real challenge for us. The driver brought us to the nearby piazza where Domus International met us, took us to our apartment, oriented us to the apartment and the neighbourhood and made us feel 'at home.' Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?Absolutely stay here especially if you are a couple, and people who enjoy a delightful apartment. I would not take children or teens to this apartment, however, as the size and furnishings are more delicate than I'd want for these ages. Things to do in this areaSee Rome! Definitely to go Gelateria Del Teatro (Via di San Simone, 70) just off the Via dei Coronari on your way towards the Vatican! And don't miss the local Chiesa Santa Maria della Pace for its art gallery and cafe. Use the local shops and morning vegetable market where you will get local help and attention when they see you again and again.
