apartments on an estate near Montepulciano, Tuscany South WhenMay 8, 2010 - May 15, 2020, 1 week LocationSant' Antonio is in the beautiful and quiet Tuscan countryside a few minutes drive outside of Montepulciano. The resort is off the road and away from urban areas so is a great place for relaxation, yet close enough to Montepulciano or small towns such as Montalcino for an evening out. Nearby AmenitiesYou need a car or a bike to get to the nearest amenities. The House/ApartmentThese are well-restored historical buildings with modern features in the essential places such as kitchens and bathrooms. The grounds are Tuscan gardens, vineyards and olive groves. GardenOutside our cottage were lovely patios with tables and chairs. We could enjoy the sun or the shade, the quiet views or the pool side. Beautiful! Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living AreasThe living room has two small sofas and the dining room has a good size table with comfortable chairs that were adequate for the two of us. There is a wood-burning fireplace for chilly evenings, which there were in May 2010! And I love the lace window coverings that add to the historic character of the cottage. Bedrooms/BathroomsSuper comfortable bed with lovely bed linens and amazing large, tiled, modern bathroom with large and luxurious towels. KitchenA good, small kitchen with all that is needed for a full meal. A china cabinet full of good dishes and wine glasses for a pleasing table setting. Problems or BonusesIn mid-May the resort was quiet and peaceful. This suited us on our journey as we'd just spent two weeks in major cities. We enjoyed the daily conversations with the resort staff who were so friendly and helpful when touching up our cottage, etc. Agency and Representatives (and price)Nico, the owner and manager, is very welcoming and helpful with details both before and during the stay. He is a wealth of information on topics from local culture to Italian history to marathon training! Knowing the history of Sant' Antonio and Nico's attentions to the resort it is not surprising that every detail of the grounds and the apartments are lovingly designed and cared for. Do you recommend this vacation rental to others? Most definitely we would return to Sant' Antonio and recommend it to friends and family. There are a variety of apartment sizes and styles to suit couples or a family or groups. Things to do in this areaRelax at the resort! And travel to the local towns, artisans, wineries, monasteries, cheese farms, etc. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
