Review by Tom from NY

apartments in the historic center, Rome

When

12/27/02-01/03/03, 7 days

Location

A congested but quite interesting part of Rome, near the Campo di Fiori and Palazzo Navona.

Nearby Amenities

Reasonably priced restaurants abound in the area. Most mornings we walked to the Campo di Fiori to purchase fresh fruit and cheese. After a jet lag flight we were starving at 2:00 AM, but we had no difficulty finding open bars in the area.

The House/Apartment

Yes -- I believe that there are about 6 other apartments in the building -- for further reference there are many reviews on this site.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

I agree with the review that decribed the furniture as simple but functional.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

There are two double beds and one sofa that opens into a double bed. There are two full bathrooms. One is adjacent to the main bedroom, serving a master bedroom. It has a nice shower that provides enough hot water -- we later found that this is not always the case in Italy. The other bathroom is not connected to a bedroom. This was perfect for my family -- 3 adult children, ages 21, 18, and 18 (twins).

Kitchen

Yes -- we found that the kitchen was adequate for small meals. In this area, it is unlikely that anyone would want to cook a full meal.

Problems or Bonuses

We liked the site so much that we asked the manager, Stefano, if we could return to the apartment after our week was up. (We had committed to visiting relatives in the Sapri area). He was very helpful; he let us leave most of our luggage and allowed us to rent for an additional two days at a reasonable prorated amount. In short, he was very helpful and flexible, just as he has been described in the other reviews.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

Very professional.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

Yes. It was terrific as a winter rental.
