Review 4775: The RedHouseCompany, Crosswater House Apt 2

Review by Maireui from Ireland

1bed/1bath in San Marco, Venice

September 2010, 1 week

The Crosswater House 2 is in a very central location close to Rialto Bridge in the heart of Venice. It is in a very quiet calle and overlooks three canals. It is very convenient for visiting all the sights. We walked to all the marvelous churches and campos. It is also only a very short walk from the Alilaguna boat stop from the airport.

Nearby Amenities

There are numerous restaurants of all types nearby. There is a supermarket within five minutes of the apartment, which has a good range of food and drink. The fruit and vegetable and fish market is very near. There are also many small shops close by.

The House/Apartment

The apartment has just been renovated recently to a very high standard. It looks even better in reality than on the web site. It has beautiful old beams on the ceiling and part of the old wall is visible in the kitchen. It is bright and airy and has two large windows that open to look out on to the canal. It has a large screen TV with Sky, which was great for news and films especially when we had one very wet night and stayed in. There is another apartment in the same building which is larger. The spacious bedroom is very peaceful at night time.

The apartment does not have an outdoor sitting area but sitting inside the open windows looking onto a busy little bridge in the distance more than compensated for it.

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

The apartment was spotless and had plenty towels in the bathroom. It has a fine table with four chairs for dining in. The large leather couch was extremely comfortable. It also has plenty storage space. It has a washing machine in a little annex off the bathroom.

It has a king size bed which was really comfortable with lots of cushions as well as pillows. There is a fine size wardrobe in the bedroom and luggage racks for the cases. The bathroom has a fine shower and very large washbasin.

It has a well stocked kitchen with all the necessary appliances for cooking including an all important kettle and teabags for the cup of tea. It also has coffee and coffee machines. There are plenty saucepans and utensils including a blender and toaster.

Problems or Bonuses

Everything was as we expected.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

The booking was dealt with very professionally and Marco gave us the information by email and the options for travel from the airport, which went very smoothly. He met us off the boat and brought us to the apartment. He speaks English perfectly.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

I would not hesitate to stay here again and will definitely recommend it to others. It was a pleasure to deal with Marco and he was so helpful with suggestions for restaurants and shops nearby.

Things to do in this area

We visited the Rialto markets and walked to Piazzo San Marco and to the Jewish quarter from our apartment which were lovely leisurely strolls. We visited Campo San Margherita by night time as it had a lovely lively atmosphere and great ice cream shops. It's lovely to sit and have a drink there and watch all the people passing by.
